News Producer

You will collaborate with news managers and other producers to determine what the important stories are daily that need to be covered.
You will learn how to write copy for broadcast, research stories for details and accuracy, and develop the ability to complete projects quickly and efficiently.
You will learn how to manage the execution of a live newscast in a control room, working closely with production staff.
You will learn how to create graphic elements, including lower-third supers and full screen graphics.
You must be able to work under tight deadlines and have an eye for accuracy.
You will communicate with reporters to learn the details of their stories to determine the placement in the newscast and how to tease compelling elements.

News Reporter

You must be able to work under tight deadlines and have an eye for accuracy.
You will collaborate with reporters and photographers to learn the responsibilities of covering local news.
You will learn how to write your own stories for both online and broadcast.
You will learn to shoot standups and practice live shots.
You will cover news and write stories for newscasts, under the guidance of producers & news managers.
You will learn the technical workflow and skills needed to work as a local news reporter.

Video-Journalist

You will learn how to gather video and interview content, and how to assemble stories for broadcast.
You will learn how to make quick assessments regarding safety and situational concerns, while shooting video at various locations/events.
You will collaborate with reporters with the goal of telling a visually compelling story.
You will learn the importance of care and maintenance of equipment.
You will learn the technical workflow and skills needed to work as a local video journalist.
Prior experience shooting video and/or editing on Adobe Premiere preferred.

Digital Producer

You will collaborate with our digital news manager and other digital producers to determine what the important stories are daily that need to be covered.
You will learn how to write copy for broadcast, research stories for details and accuracy, and develop the ability to complete projects quickly and efficiently.
You will learn how to produce content in a content management system that supports and populates our digital platforms - web and social.
You will communicate with reporters to learn the details of their stories, as well as make needed calls for information.
You will learn the technical workflow and skills needed to work as a digital producer.

Technical Production

You will observe and train on all aspects of behind-the-scenes newscast production: directing, technical directing, audio, camera operation.
You will learn how all the roles work together to execute a live newscast from the control room.
You will learn how to manage newscast execution software, graphics, camera shots and live in the field elements during a newscast.
You will learn how communicate with a team during stressful situations to troubleshoot and navigate live issues to a positive outcome.

We are looking for a strong, take-charge reporter who hits the ground running every day. You are an excellent writer who knows how to tell a visual story, executes compelling live shots, loves breaking news, and is highly competitive. We value strong enterprise reporting and we're looking for someone who finds the stories that lead newscasts. In addition to credibility, poise, and personality, you are a reporter who isn't afraid to ask the tough questions and will hold those in power accountable. You must be able to work quickly, under tight deadlines, understand and implement direction and feedback, develop sources, and collaborate with a video journalist to tell the best story possible. You should be an avid local news consumer who knows what is happening and how to develop a network of community contacts. Your reel should demonstrate live reporting ability. Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards are a must. Must work with urgency and be dependable. You will report to the News Director.

Responsibilities:

Work well with video journalists, producers, managers and other co-workers
Regularly plan, gather and assemble stories on day-of news and other assigned stories; must be able to write a package quickly, while also turning vosots for other newscasts and digital content
Communicate and collaborate with video journalist on how to develop/tell story in the most visual and compelling way
Must adhere to writing/editing timing deadlines for assigned newscasts; must provide editors enough time to edit and provide producers with script information in timely manner
Develop a network of sources who provide tips, early access to information, and allow the reporter to cover stories of significance
Contribute pictures, video and text updates to mobile platforms daily
Can juggle multiple stories and projects at once, and demonstrates exceptional time-management skills by meeting all deadlines under extraordinary pressure
In-person attendance is required

Requirements:

3-5 years of reporting experience
Demonstrated ability to develop stories and cover breaking news
Your demo reel should be indicative of your everyday work
Strong writing and storytelling skills
Work varied shifts, including overnights, nights and weekends
Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production
Valid driver's license, and clear driving record
Operate mobile transmission devices and use the latest technology
Can work in all weather conditions and carry up to 50 pounds

Job Responsibilities

This employee will maintain the following:

Production equipment including robotic camera systems, production switcher, play out servers, graphics devices, lighting systems, weather systems, audio consoles, and other gear used in production.
News-gathering equipment including ENG cameras, field gear, ENG, DSNG, and SNG trucks, editing systems, and support devices.
IT systems and associated hardware and software. This includes infrastructure and end user support.
Transmitter sites, microwave central receive sites, satellite antenna systems, signal distribution and routing systems, processing systems, monitoring devices, and automation systems.

Qualifications Desired:

Excellent troubleshooting skills, able to plan and execute equipment installation, research/design, and detailed documentation of work.
Knowledge of desktop and server operating systems.
Networking support of various LAN/WAN devices and systems.
