Job Summary/Description:

**** is looking for an energetic journalist to join our morning news team. This position is split *** ween our weekday and weekend morning shows. During the week, you’ll be our lead morning reporter covering everything from breaking news to new businesses opening in town. You’ll be paired with a photographer to help with your liveshots during the 2.5 hour broadcast (4:30-7:00 a.m.). This position will also be our primary fill-in anytime our anchors are out.

On the weekend, you’ll produce and anchor the market’s only weekend morning news from 6-7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with an update on Saturday in the 8 a.m. hour.

If you’re interested in covering specific topics like sports or politics, our morning show is a place to shine! We’re looking for enterprising and engaging content to get our viewers informed and out the door. Whether in studio or live in our community, this position is one where personality and passion are critical to connecting with viewers.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- This position is open to those looking to start a career in broadcasting as well as those who have experience.
- Strong desire to bring interactive and dynamic stories to air.
- Time management is a critical skill.
- Ability to think quickly during live interviews and adapt to changing assignments.
- Able to shoot and edit video, write for broadcast and web.

Job Summary/Description:

Are you looking to get your start in broadcasting a market that experiences all weather scenarios? ****-TV in Rochester, Minnesota gets it all! Our coverage area of southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa sees snow, rain, tornadoes, derechos, floods, and more. We’re the perfect market to get your start and grow as a professional broadcast meteorologist. The **** First Alert Weather team is looking for someone who loves weather to join them in forecasting for southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa. This person will primarily forecast on-air on weekends and have other duties creating content during the week. This meteorologist will work closely with our Chief Meteorologist, news management, and producers to craft engaging and dynamic forecasts.

An ideal candidate will have a firm understanding that weather impacts all parts of our lives. Forecasting at the green screen in studio isn’t their only responsibility. Climate change is real and will be the story this generation covers their entire lives. Weather happens outside the studio and this meteorologist will have a strong desire to get out and tell those impactful stories.

We're also looking for someone who can create unique weather content viewers would like to see on Roku, AppleTV, *** Fire, our weather app, and website. Experience with WSI graphics systems is a plus. Experience reporting, shooting, and editing will set you apart from other applicants, but not required.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Analyze weather data and prepare an accurate forecast
• Use WSI graphic systems to create content supporting the forecast
• Cover severe and breaking weather situations across all platforms
• Post weather content to station website, social *** accounts, apps, and streaming devices
• Flexibility in scheduling to cover severe weather or fill-in for other weather team members

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Degree in meteorology from an accredited school or program

Job Summary/Description:

Are you looking to start your career as a journalist? **** is looking for people who are curious about the world around them, eager to share facts learned while researching stories and excited to come to work each day knowing they will make an impact.

A typical day for an MMJ at **** starts with an editorial meeting. Here, stories are discussed, and ideas shared that help determine what our lead story will be. MMJs pitch content through Microsoft Teams the day before and come ready to turn stories, having made calls and prearranged interviews in case their pitch is given the greenlight.

After the editorial, MMJs get to work, confirming interviews, researching facts and background information, and getting out the door to get fresh video. Time management is a critical skill for MMJs, as they are responsible for shooting their own video and interviews, writing and editing their stories for broadcast, and posting their stories to the station website and social *** platforms.

The day ends with an MMJ making their story pitch for the next day, having already made calls and researched the topic ahead of time.

Our newsroom is young and energetic lead by anchors with decades of experience, eager to share their insights with new journalists. We believe feedback and growth should happen every day, not just during a quarterly or yearly review.
