Job Description
The Associate Designer is an experienced multidisciplinary designer who has a strong interest in graphic design including photography, illustrations, typography, icons, and animations. This person is able to consistently meet deadlines with inspiring ideas and a great attitude. This position reports to and will work closely with the creative director to evolve the look of the magazine and design front-of-book stories and packages. You will work closely with the photo department and editors to see stories through from concept to execution. The ideal candidate is able to participate in brainstorming meetings and feels comfortable working in a group setting.

Pay Range
Salary: $65,705 - $88,740
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash *** 's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives. Responsibilities:
- Meets with edit/photo departments to get briefs on FOB sections/packages/features stories assigned to them.
- Works closely with the Creative Director to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and route work to internal departments.
- Illustrates icons and maps when needed and designs typefaces for features and packages.
- Attaches and styles text, and routes final approved files. Adheres to current processes.
- Maintains issue wall, art assignments list and updating layout page templates.

- Sophisticated design abilities and typographic skills
- Problem-solving, interactive approach to design
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work well in a deadline-driven, collaborative environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong interest in content matter (travel)
- High proficiency with design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Bridge, After Effects and InDesign
Job Functions:
- 80% Design and work with the editorial department on all visual elements for layouts.
- 10% Monitor workflow procedures
- 10% Assist Creative Director in day-to-day supervision of assignments
