JOB DESCRIPTION
Executive Assistant, Business Affairs
20th Television/ *** Television

The ideal candidate will be one of the following: (1) a recent law school graduate (or business school graduate) who's willing to take an entry-level position to get a foot in the door at a great company; (2) a college graduate interested in learning the business/legal side of television/entertainment (perhaps somebody considering law or business school down the line); or (3) a seasoned legal assistant with experience drafting and revising agreements. This is an excellent opportunity for somebody who wishes to move up, as many past assistants have advanced to other positions at 20th or elsewhere in the entertainment industry.
Responsibilities:
- Drafts a large variety of contracts for 20th Television (e.g., writer, producer, actor, director, option/purchase agreements)
- Updates contract binders and OneNote, and distributes documents to various clients. Accurately maintains and administers legal contracts filing systems, and assists in monitoring dates of legal significance (e.g., options and expirations)
- Manages and directs phone calls and written correspondence/faxes, and facilitates the execution of legal documents
- Analyzes contracts, providing and maintaining necessary contractual/research information and rights analysis
- Assists with preparation of legal documents and redlines, drafting routine letters and other correspondence
- Answers phones; manages calendars, meetings and conference calls; books/confirms travel; and manages expense reports.
- Takes a first pass at reviewing budgets and looking at credits
Qualifications
- Four year college degree required. JD preferred.
- 1+ years of legal assistant or paralegal experience preferred. Prior work experience in a fast-paced environment required.
- Previous exposure to legal issues specific to a network or studio a strong plus
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, OneNote, Outlook, Excel and Adobe Acrobat is required.
- Must have strong written (including legal drafting) and verbal communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented with the ability to independently prioritize work and handle multiple tasks with set deadlines as a top priority, and possess excellent organizational and tracking skills
- Because of exposure to high level confidential information, a high level of integrity, discretion and professionalism in dealing with senior professionals is required
- Must be able to complete a high volume of tasks and projects quickly with little guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround.
- Must be client-ser *** oriented, with great attention to detail while still meeting tight deadlines, and the ability to easily switch gears.
