JOB SUMMARY: The executive producer is a leader in the newsroom who will supervise the work of others. Responsible for recruiting and interviewing, managing the daily affairs of the team, and cultivating a productive and supported work environment. Produce timely and compelling newscasts that are editorially and visually dynamic, including content in the field and news specials. Develop and assemble content on multiple platforms. Main Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Content Strategist and Digital Lead to ideate and deliver creative human-led stories.
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to source, creatively direct and produce compelling imagery and text assets.
• Sourcing and managing appropriate vendors and/or individual freelancers to fulfil production of required campaign assets.
• Estimating time and costs for content creation including, but not limited to, freelance copywriters, editors and photographers.
• Work with illustrators, photographers, motion designers, graphic designers, writers, production houses to elevate the creative and enhance content discovery across multiple platforms, across multiple verticals.
• Proofread and write copy, check on creative assets and maintain highest level of quality for all creative output.
• Support Project Managers in driving milestones of the creative process effectively to ensure timely and accurate development, production and delivery of assets.
• Proactively learning about the latest digital and video product innovation and updating cross-functional partners on these features and initiatives.
• Review performance metrics together with Lead Content Strategist and Digital Lead to determine best practices for *** ter creatives.

The hiring range for this position in California is $101,790.00 to $124,410.00 per year. Digital news producers at **** *** 8News are leading the transition from broadcast-focused newsrooms to multi-platform newsrooms by creating original content beyond what goes on television. Our digital producers have excellent news judgment and never miss a breaking news story. They're also on top of trending topics and ensure that our digital products are fresh and engaging.

At 8News, digital producers:

• Report and write stories daily
• Edit stories daily
• Post content on our website and manage the website, especially the homepage
• Decide which stories are breaking news, which stories should be at the top of the website and which stories from our news partners will also be important to our local audience
• Love breaking news and the challenge of reporting a big story
• Create engaging social *** content with graphics, wit and timeliness

You'll be expected to:

• Ensure that everything we publish meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
• Increase the number of times people come to our website through effective content management
• Make decisions using audience data
• Research and analyze background information for a variety of topics. This goes hand in hand with daily reporting and editing
• Pitch on-brand local and trending stories
• Conduct interviews with sources
• Demonstrate top-notch communication skills with co-workers and the public
• Meet the physical demands of the job including working in the office or outdoors
• Flexibility to work any shift
• And of course, perform other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will:

• Have an undergraduate degree in mass communications, journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Have experience writing for a daily newspaper and/or news website
• Have comprehensive knowledge of reporting, sourcing, transparency and journalism ethics, with a commitment to integrity and accuracy
• Have experience publishing content online, especially with WordPress
• Understand and use AP style
• Same for SEO - understand it, use it.
• Be familiar with photo editing software, basic video editing software and basic HTML
• Be comfortable working with different technologies - it's always changing
• Participate and cooperate

The position will be responsible for stacking, writing and editing stories that will appear in our newscast on the *** News Chicago OTT platform. The role requires close coordination with other digital producers and broadcast line producers during live news broadcasts as well as writing headlines and improving SEO and shareability of *** 2-Chicago content. This position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the WGA.

Responsibilities:
• Assisting with timing in a control room environment.
• Help stack rundown content at the direction of the supervising producer and broadcast line producers with regard to video, graphics, scripts and other elements.
• Helping to coordinate with broadcast line producers during live news programs.
• Assisting with building show rundowns.
• Editing video.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
• Recent college grad with 2+ years of experience preferred.

Additional Qualifications:
• Experience preferred in helping to create and build show rundowns in cable, broadcast or digital environment.
• Ability to work under extremely tight deadlines to write headlines and edit video for live digital broadcast.
• Thorough knowledge of social *** and the competitive digital news environment.
• Familiarity with Edius or other non-linear editing systems and ENPS and iNews.
• Available for early mornings, nights, overnights, weekends, holidays; this is a 24-hour streaming service.
• Experience with Crispin and iNews a big plus.
• Understanding of SEO.

Job Summary/Description:

Your Hometown News Leader is looking to hire a dynamic, experienced journalist for a weekday morning position. This position is ideal for a blossoming weekend anchor or talented reporter looking for a new challenge.
