**** 5 On Your Side, the *** - owned, legacy *** affiliate in St. Louis is looking for a dynamic Director of Content with experience leading teams and developing talent. The Director of Content will lead the day-to-day editorial coverage and distribution across multiple platforms in a high- performing newsroom driven by excellence.
As the leader of our innovative news operation, you will oversee all content operations as well as serve as the leader of the strategic vision for steady audience growth. The Director of Content will directly oversee the News Director and Digital Director. Each role has distinctive editorial input and is responsible for sharing their expertise with the content team.
The Director of Content will also partner with the General Manager, Director of Marketing and Insights & Strategic Development Director routinely to ensure alignment.

The Director of Content will coach our talented and experienced staff to the next level. Responsibilities
- Strategically lead the content team to deliver the highest available audience across platforms.
- Collaborate with the News Director and Digital Director to develop and drive the content strategy for the station.
- Engage with Director of Marketing and Insights & Strategic Development Director to use consumer analytics to determine content priorities.
- Lead and mentor content leadership team and newsroom team members.
- Lead the integration of digital and broadcast content strategies to serve growing audiences on all platforms and to meet or exceed our content KPIs across broadcast and digital platforms.
- Regularly review content and ensure accountability to the content strategic plan.
- Oversee alignment of content team structure and workflow.
- Responsible for hiring talent and retaining top talent in front of and behind the camera.
- Inspire and coach superior, unique and engaging storytelling.
- Lead a culture that owns enterprise reporting and storytelling as well as breaking news across all content platforms.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field and news leadership experience
- 7-10 years of content experience, including generation of original content and a minimum of 5 years' experience supervising and leading journalists.
- Solid journalistic and content judgment that emphasizes accurate and balanced local content.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset required.
- Deep understanding of tenets of professional journalism.
- Proven ability to develop a content strategy and drive accountability.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, calm demeanor under pressure.
- Exceptional planning and execution skills.
