*** Entertainment Television (DETV) Legal Affairs is searching for an attorney to work in the role of Counsel to handle legal work for *** and the Owned Television Station (OTV) group. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Counsel, DETV Legal Affairs, this person will work independently and with senior attorneys and paralegals, while continuing to develop legal expertise, judgment and capacity to work independently on more complex matters.
Responsibilities:
- *** Legal Support : Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements for *** ' different units, including *** *** , *** Audio, the *** Digital team, and the weekly series of *** . These agreements may include, among other things, above- and below-the-line talent, production services agreements, program acquisition agreements, program licenses, confidentiality agreements, location agreements, clip licenses, materials releases, equipment rentals, sponsor content production agreements, promotions and sponsorships, and radio affiliation agreements.
- OTV Legal Support : Providing legal support in connection with a variety of subject matter and functional areas for the OTV station group. This position will review, draft and negotiate agreements for the OTV station group (including, among other things, television program acquisition, production and syndication), and collaborate with lawyers from relevant internal groups (intellectual property, clearance, employment, privacy, security, sales, technology, regulatory, labor relations, tax, music, etc.) on a wide range of deals and strategic initiatives for the OTV station group.
- Performing special projects and other related duties as assigned or requested.
- At least three (3) years of legal experience at a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department.
- Experience drafting and negotiating *** agreements.
- Fast learner with excellent client service, including project ownership from start to finish.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to identify and analyze issues and devise solutions and strategies.
- Ability to work independently (with support when needed), with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent writing, speaking and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate complex concepts and issues effectively with all levels and management.
- Initiative and attention to detail.
- Team oriented with a positive "can do" attitude and a solution oriented approach to legal issues.
- Excellent work ethic and commitment to professionalism and collaboration.
- Ability to multi-task and work quickly under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and other office-related software.
- Previous in-house experience at a network, television station or studio is preferred.
Required Education:
- JD or equivalent from an accredited law school
- Membership in the New York State Bar in good standing or willingness and qualification to be Registered In-House Counsel

The hiring range for this position in New York is $143,175.00 - $189,750.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
