Job Description
- We are looking for someone with experience on relevant shows (see below), who can give both creative advice on crafting the storylines and characters, as well as (to a lesser extent) ‘hard tacks’ input on how production was run etc.
- It’s a remote position, involving zoom calls and meetings but no ‘in person’ or ‘on set’ involvement
- We would be asking for a 30-50 day commitment in total, spread out over the course of the production, with more intensive creative input at the pre-production stage (planning, casting, episode breakdowns) and in post-production when working on edits, looking at cuts and giving notes.

Candidates
Suitable candidates will have worked as showrunner, producer or story producer on reality series for major broadcasters. Some key creative references for our show are Welcome to Wrexham, All or Nothing, Last Chance U, Sunderland Til I Die, Drive to Survive, and Break Point. Candidates who have worked on these shows would be of particular interest.

Timing and Remuneration
Commencing June 2023 through to Q1 2026. We would love to onboard the consultant sooner rather than later, at competitive industry standard rates.

Please note that we would not be demanding that the candidate work exclusively on our project for the duration of our production, so it's an ideal consultancy role for those who can spare additional time on top of their other work, and are interested in getting into the exciting world of Asian content creation!

Some additional responsibilities of our Executive Producer will include

Oversee daily newscasts to ensure we are serving our local communities by sharing relevant information to alert, protect and empower our audiences
Supervise producers and reporters, as well as, review scripts and provide feedback to encourage powerful storytelling
Manage news room and handle breaking news situations to empower and grow our audiences
Collaborate with News Directors and other station managers to create special segments
Planning and overseeing continuity into upcoming newscasts

What skills do you need to be successful in our role?

Proven track record of creating compelling and engaging stories across multiple platforms
Ability to preform well under pressure, experience managing breaking news and meeting strict deadlines
Ability to identity problems and provide solutions
A strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics
Extraordinary people skills with an emphasis on coaching and motivating
Strong understanding of how to drive digital traffic
Minimum of 2 (years exp) producing in a television news environment or equivalent
A college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred
Strong writing skills and a proven track record for getting results on initiatives

The ideal candidate must be able to lead a strong team of enterprise reporters, producers, assignments editors, and anchors. They also need to have knowledge of the 11 p.m. newscast audience, the challenges presented by this particular time period and the kind of stories that viewers find interesting and compelling.

The Executive Producer will have passion, creativity, and strong organizational skills. They must be a self-starter, be highly proactive; and have a strong editorial voice both in the editorial meetings and in the newsroom.

They also need a strong knowledge of show production; showcase using content and graphics; and implement the vision of the television station regularly in the newscast.

The ideal candidate has strong writing and storytelling skills, as well as a strong ability to copy edit reporter scripts. They must have a strong understanding and ability to incorporate the web into daily coverage, and is a natural leader.
