*** Live is hiring a Senior Producer to serve as our Washington DC bureau editorial lead. This is a highly collaborative role that integrates with various partners across the bureau and news division. The Senior Producer will work closely with DC-based vertical teams to help guide and strategize our coverage of the White House, Capitol Hill, Global Affairs, Justice, Transportation, Race and Culture and other DC affiliated news.
The ideal candidate must be well-versed in Washington coverage with a proven ability of leading in a dynamic news environment.
This candidate will supervise the *** Live team of producers, bookers while working closely with producers/reporters and correspondents across the news division. The role is expected to leverage the professional growth of the team, and ensure the highest quality of content for the platform.
This position reports to the Executive Director.
What You Will Do:
You will creatively drive the production team to pitch, develop and deliver compelling and flawless DC-based stories. We'd like you to be someone who can develop and maintain positive relationships and partnerships with people at all levels, both within *** and outside the company, and in different areas of business and production.
• Write key parts of shows while ensuring accuracy as the final copy editor on scripts
• Work closely with production staff to ensure clean execution on-air
• Work closely with *** Live booking team to find relevant guests or identify potential headline making guest
• Able to work with on-air talent, producing/writing enterprise pieces and in the control room
• Help supervise editorial staff for extended hours of on-air coverage
• Proactively identify and address problems quickly, then independently impart informed solutions
• Help in the professional growth of fellows, production assistants, associate producers etc. as a manager on the team
Required Qualifications & Skills:
• All candidates must have extensive control room experience and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• A willingness to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights and weekends and thrive in our fast paced environment
• Proven ability including a minimum of 10 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: broadcast, cable, major local news market, streaming news.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of iNews (or other similar producing software)
Education:
• Bachelor's degree (TV/Film/Journalism or related field) or equivalent work experience
The hiring range for this position in Washington, DC is $180,100.00-$241,500.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
