Production Operations at Televisa *** is looking for a Camera Operator, Jib to join our team!

Responsible for the building, operations and general maintenance of the Jib Camera. Operator must provide creative, fluid movement of the camera on multi-camera productions for News, Sports and Entertainment studio shows. The Camera Operator, Jib will report to the Production Operations Supervisor.

YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)

Create smooth fluid movements of the camera to enhance the production value of each. program. Must be able to pan and tilt camera as well as swing the crane through space.
Maintain stable framing without extraneous movement on all axis.
Setup, balance, troubleshoot, and maintain crane and associated equipment.
Operator controls zoom and focus of lens. Good sense of visual composition.
Take direction well and work as a team player.
Operate in a safe and controlled manner to minimize injury to self or others as well as any damage to equipment or property.
Ability to follow a rundown.

YOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)

Bachelor's Degree in television production or equivalent work experience.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systems.
3-5 years of experience in control room broadcast facility.
Physical ability to swing and stop camera boom of up to 40 feet while carrying a camera. load of up to 45 pounds as well as the crane itself and the associated counterweights.
Perform well under pressure and breaking news situations.
Physical ability to lift equipment and counterweights up to 50 pounds.
Agility to move at a rapid pace as production needs may require
Provide creative input, e.g., assists the Director/ Producer in creating the look of a show, including set design; suggests alternate shots; etc.
Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
As this position supports 24x7 operation, candidate must, in addition to being able to work regular hours, have on-call availability, and flexibility to work days, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed and without advance notice. Additionally, candidate may be required to work on site for extended periods of time to provide coverage in special circumstances, such as, during tropical storm/hurricane.

Job Description

The Broadcast Utility Technician is a full-time, project-based position. The working hours for this position are scheduled from 4am to 12pm, or as needed.

Work with technical and news staff to satisfy production needs for a live three-hour national morning show
Set up and check (pre-set, dress) and remove all mics and IFBs from guests prior to and after their appearance on air
Pro-actively and as directed, maintain the integrity of the studio appearance and all associated audio equipment including mics, IFBs, batteries, cables etc.
Stage sets as needed for all programming
Maintain and inventory studio props
Operate studio jib camera in either a break or primary capacity when needed
Demonstrate a basic knowledge, command, and operation (for breaks or primary operation as needed) of various production systems (robotics, audio and production switchers - both automated and manual)

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Communications) or equivalent work experience required
Minimum one (1+) year of experience in TV studio production
Must be able to lift 25 lbs. and set / strike studio gear
Willingness to work flexible, non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays

Desired Characteristics:

A1 Operator experience a plus
Aptitude and desire to continue training at the next technical level (TD, Audio)
Serve as fill-in for all other Tech 1 positions as needed (i.e. Robotic Camera, Ped Camera, etc)
Familiarity with *** football a plus
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
Must be a collaborative team player who works well with others, in a fast paced, dynamic studio environment

Additional Information

In accordance with applicable NYC law, the estimated base salary range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience.
