Job Description About Your Role: Dotdash *** is seeking a Senior Home Editor to help us take Martha Stewart Digital to the next level. We are looking for a digitally savvy content creator with a passion for all things home, decor, gardening, entertaining, cleaning and organizing, and DIY, who is eager to drive the ongoing evolution and growth of one of the biggest lifestyle sites. The Senior Home Editor will write, assign, and edit new content, and work with the growth team to refresh existing content and improve user experience-all to grow traffic, boost audience engagement, and drive revenue growth. Excellent writing, editing, communication, and management skills are a must.
Our Senior Home Editor must be a strategic thinker who can guide junior team members, including two direct reports, and motivate the staff to meet our brand goals. They must be detail-oriented and deadline-driven to juggle the priorities and meet the deadlines that are crucial to the success of our business. They should also be highly organized, collaborative, and adept at using analytics and current SEO best practices to create and commission content and larger editorial initiatives that will help ensure we meet our goals. Our ideal candidate also has experience commissioning photos and using such tools as content management systems, basic Photoshop, Semrush, and Google Analytics.
About Your Contributions:- Write content, and assign/edit content from freelance and staff writers to ensure best practices are met.
- Manage two direct reports, providing guidance, training, and project prioritization when needed.
- Manage budget related to your slate of writers, and source potential new writers.
- Curate and promote our best content across site landing pages, and work with our email and social teams on cross-channel promotion.
- Work closely with editorial and SEO teams with the goal of improving content quality.
- Brainstorm ideas for our ongoing video series and give feedback to video producers, as well as potentially host videos.
- Ideate and pitch new content ideas, as well as brand franchises and tentpoles.
- Keep a pulse on the competitive landscape to identify trends and opportunities in the space.
- Work with the Senior Editorial Director and Associate Editorial Director to help shape and define editorial strategy, increase audience, and drive user engagement.
Essential Job Functions | Accountabilities, Actions, and Expected Measurable Results- 75% - Assign and edit content, recruit and manage freelance writers, ideate and write content, coordinate SEO projects, and stay up to date with home trends.
- 15% - Collaborate across departments on content packages and sponsored editorial campaigns.
- 5% - Participate in video content, industry events, and PR appearances as needed.
- 5% - Use analytics to track performance, and participate in other special projects as needed.
About You:- Minimum 5 years of experience developing and curating digital content for web, email, and social environments against business goals.
- Enthusiastic about the Martha Stewart brand, passionate about all things home-decorating, renovating, gardening, cleaning and organizing, DIY-and eager to share your knowledge with the world.
- Consistently up to date with industry trends; able to identify topics of interest to a wide audience.
- Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid proofing skills. Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, lively headlines and blurbs. Experienced with editing and managing a large content pipeline. Prior experience editing lifestyle content is a must.
- Proactive, flexible team player with a sense of humor and entrepreneurial energy, able to roll with the punches and take ownership in a fluid and fast-moving environment.
- Operating experience with content management systems and web analytics tools and experience using data and revenue goals to inform and develop digital strategies.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or communications.

Pay Range Salary: $66,120 - $82,650
The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Dotdash *** 's total compensation package for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, and short- and long-term incentives.
