JOB DESCRIPTION
*** Sports is looking for a Live Production Engineer to join the team in Los Angeles. As the Live Production Engineer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of Live Production and post-production equipment in both on-air and off-air television environments supporting *** Sports. You will also be responsible for documenting necessary changes to the production environment as well as reporting daily tasks in a ticketing/trouble logging system. Additionally, Engineers are required to perform emergency & preventative maintenance on all systems and to train fellow engineers or operators as needed.

This position will be filled as a NA *** 53 Union representative and will require an open flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Extensive knowledge of live production workflow dealing with production switchers, audio consoles, intercom systems, wireless audio, server-based playout, graphics generators
• Understanding an on-air Sports environment and can maintain & troubleshoot issues with advanced TV Studio Production equipment
• Has the proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision; must be a self-motivated self-starter that can initiate ideas
• Provide written and verbal reports or instructions to peers, management, and clients

• Knowledge of SDVN
• Experience with Sony Switchers, Grass Valley Switchers, Calrec Audio Consoles Riedel intercom, EVS replay, Evertz Routing systems
• Setting up 1080p & 4K Production Workflows
• Five years' experience as a Maintenance Engineer in live television environment
• Outstanding verbal/written communication skills
• Professional level IT skillset to include a well-rounded networking, software, and Linux/Windows operating system knowledge base
• Experience with Mac and PC, possess skills related to file-based workflows, including knowledge of video codecs, audio codecs, transcoding, file movement, etc.
• Ability to identify signal parameters and troubleshoot issues using test equipment including waveform monitors, vector monitors and audio distortion analyzers

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER

• College degree in Engineering, Broadcast, or IT
• Cisco Networking Certification coursework
• Rudimentary knowledge of IP routing and switches

NewsNation has an im *** te opening for a Broadcast Engineer for our Chicago headquarters. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the successful candidate will assist in construction and maintenance of state-of-the-art broadcast systems supporting our national news operation.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Five (5) years' experience as an engineer in a broadcast facility
• A two-year degree in a technical profession desired
• Knowledge of current television broadcast systems including Ross Overdrive automation, ENPS newsroom, Bitcentral, studio and control room equipment including, cameras, wired and wireless audio gear, master control and airpath systems, satellite transmission and reception, etc.
• Wheatstone audio, Tessera and LED Videowalls/Processors experience a plus
• Expert troubleshooting skills and ability to understand system drawings (AutoCAD experience a plus)
• Working knowledge of common television test equipment including signal generators/analyzers, scopes, etc.
• Proficiency and experience performing cable installations, soldering, crimping cable connectors, including cable documentation, labeling, post-installation commissioning and testing processes, etc.
• Strong IT skills including IP networking concepts and equipment, storage systems, redundant computer system concepts, administration, etc.
• Ability to respond to trouble calls in a 24*7 environment (including nights, weekends, holidays as needed)
• Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal, written and people skills
• Experience in large systems integration/installation a plus
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Knowledge of common business software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) a plus

This position will require shift work which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime as situations demand.

This position is under the jurisdiction of IBEW 1220, and union membership is required.

Our Freelance Broadcast Engineer coordinates and maintains computer based and broadcast equipment. This individual supports live studio productions and all post production workflows. This individual is responsible for maintaining video, audio, and other equipment associated with television. This is an operational role in a 24/7 broadcast facility. Most live activity occurs during the early morning or overnight shifts with a heavy concentration of activity Fridays through Sundays. Our Broadcast Engineer works those days/hours as well as frequent holidays.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assists in preventive maintenance and/or troubleshooting on almost any broadcast de *** or support electronics whether in-house or at remote locations; including but not limited to: video equipment and/or audio switching equipment, processing and monitoring equipment and streaming equipment
• Maintains computer-based equipment software, hardware, and local area network applications on systems throughout the facility
• Responds to trouble calls with broadcast or computer equipment (sometimes after normal business hours)
• Keeps software versions up to date, insure software license compliance and follow all corporate directives for IT security
• Demonstrates consistently high standard of Engineering practices, assists in install new equipment using CAD drawings and elevations, intuitive cable management and labeling, submits updates to Engineering documentation
• Is available to work flexible hours during live Tennis tournaments throughout the year

Qualifications:

• SBE certification, and A+ certification
• Minimum 3 years of experience in work-related field
• Exceptional communication skills
• 21st century skill set, a great team-oriented attitude and a dedication to quality
• Knowledge of workflows relating to computer based editing systems, including *** archiving and storage relating to AVID, EVS, Masstech and iNews
• Possess a strong technical support with Production control rooms and Master Control.
• Experience with installing and upgrading equipment to improve workflows
