About the Role & Team:
"We make magic"! The *** Consumer Products (DCP) team is responsible for creating, developing, and bringing to life *** merchandise across *** Parks, *** Stores, shop *** , and licensed products sold all across the world.
The Store Design Manager is responsible for owning the design process from site assessment through project completion for retail projects within the *** Parks and Resorts. You will be encouraged to contribute to the budget process, handle project timelines and deliverables, and work closely with key business partners to ensure the needs of the department are met. You will be expected to ensure that *** 's high-quality standards and attention to details are implemented. This position will report to the Director, Store Design & Development.
What You Will Do:
- Be a part of the store development/remodel process, from inception to closeout
- Lead multiple responsibilities and assignments simultaneously
- Run the day-to-day store design activities and responsibilities from development to execution to ensure department goals and objectives are met
- Have a strong understanding of retail standards and design principles
- Read, review, and modify construction drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and ensure compliance with design intent and legal requirements
- Supervise and lead all store design deliverables/dates to ensure compliance with the project schedule
- Ensure adherence to project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements
- Explore and develop practices and processes to improve metrics on stated goals
- Support the project schedule by resolving design issues quickly and promptly that may arise during the project build out phase
- Organize and lead business critical meetings for the purpose of coordinating/running the design process
- Lead multiple design concepts and store types concurrently
- Build and develop positive relationships with a diverse group of cross functional partners and lead in a collaborative style
- Communicate timely and effectively with all stakeholders on matters and/or issues relating to the project, especially concerns that could affect the project completion, quality or financial impacts
- Represent the Retail Design & Development as the subject matter expert in internal and external business meetings, provides expertise and mentorship when required
- Contribute to the success of the department through ongoing development and participation in key pilot programs and initiatives
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 7+ years in a leadership construction or store planning role within the retail industry
- Proficiency in reading and understanding architecture and engineering documents, vendor shop drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of building codes and expertise in retail design and construction
- Previous experience leading fast paced, multiple projects with strict adherence to budget and deadlines
- Ability to work and thrive in cross-functional teams
- Excellent project management skills, including handling multiple tasks simultaneously and lead sophisticated, cross functional teams
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Inventive problem solving skills and excellent analytical skills leading to strong results
- Self starter capable of operating with little supervision
- Proficiency in basic computer functions necessary to operate in a Windows environment and other technologies including Microsoft Project and AutoCad
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Interiors, Architecture, Construction Project Management, or related field
