We are looking for a Production Accountant in our Los Angeles office. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced office environment. Preferably have a thorough understanding of accounting for productions, such as commercial production. The Production Accountant will report directly to the US Head of Finance & Operations, while partnering closely with EP's, production staff & freelancers.
Responsibilities:
- Autonomy overall production finance - maintaining control for several productions at a time.
- Conduct start-up & wrap meetings with production.
- Manage, control and report cost manager activity via internal cost reports, and ad-hoc external reporting to clients/departments where required.
- Point of Contact for Cost Manager within PMI (finance accounting software).
- Train new hires on Cost Manager.
- Train Freelance teams on Cost Manager.
- Liaise directly with Producer or Production Manager to ensure cost managers are complete, accurate and up to date, and critically analyse inputs to keep production costs to a minimum.
- Provide day-to-day guidance on workflows & enforce Pulse Films accounting procedures.
- Raise sales invoices for clients and maintain credit control.
- Prepare Director Profit Share statements & DGA contributions /audits.
- Handle Payroll audits from CAPS and ensure that they are in line with submitted timecards.
- Ensure US Head of Finance & Operations is kept updated with forecasted i *** ows.
- Support Junior Accountant on production payments.
- Produce weekly margin reports, Pipeline and Sales Force.
- Assisting external auditors with queries as required.
- Oversee all users and projects in the production/accounting system used at Pulse Films .
- Support month end accounting close (incl. accruals, journal entries, and reconciliations).
- Keep informed of all union/guild contracts (rates, rules and regulations).
- Research and track available tax incentives, residuals, and royalties.
You have these:
- Bachelor's degree. Accounting or a Business-related field a plus
- 2-4 years' experience in production accounting procedures, including actualizing job costs & knowledge of general accounting principles. Previous commercial production accounting experience a plus.
- Excellent Excel skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, agency, and vendors.
- Capability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong teamwork collaboration
- Knowledge of union & non-union production payroll preferred
