NewsNation is currently seeking a creative, experienced and pro-active part-time Stagehand to join our team at its *** in New York. As a Stagehand you will work with our current team of Stagehands to create, establish and maintain all NewsNation lighting needs.

Responsibilities:

The Stagehandwill Perform, at a minimum, the following duties:

*Plot, identify, and install lighting equipment.

*Direct other lighting personnel during installations and adjustments.

*Work closely with external vendors to maintain quality control over studio lighting.

*Create and document cues to be used during daily shows, as well as any special projects, including the installation and focusing such lighting to attain the desired effect.

*The LD will also function as a member of the regular crew and operate entertainment lighting consoles/switc *** ards, spotlights, and other lighting equipment (except lights and equipment as may be attached to the camera).

*Move, install, place, handle and maintain all sets, scenery and props.

*Function as scenic carpenters. Specialists may also perform rigging functions.

*Operate Teleprompter both for studio operations and remote locations.

Qualifications:

5-7 years in a major market television station.

Meet the required standards for stagehand as designated by The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

A strong working knowledge of television lighting, especially etc (Electronic Theater Controls) EOS and Ion consoles.

Be required to occasionally travel to remote locations, when needed, to create lighting setups for NewsNation productions.

Excellent communication skills a must.

Salary Range: $38.00 - $65.00 Hourly

****/**** - Broadcast Stagehand (Per Diem Part-Time)

*** 5 DC / *** 5 Plus, the #1 news station in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia with the most hours of local news and entertainment in the market, is in search of per diem Stagehand to join our award-winning team and support our broadcast schedule. This role works in conjunction with the engineering management team to oversee behind-the-scenes broadcast production projects and studio set designs.

Responsibilities: Will handle property and scenery used for live television. This includes the maintenance, repair, placement and operation of studio scenes, structures, and lighting. Must be competent in the use of hand tools and power tools. Must be comfortable with computers, email, and training on new systems. Will work in a fast-paced environment. May have to travel *** ween locations and may be required to deliver and pickup materials offsite as needed.

Requirements: HS Diploma (or equivalent) required. 2-4-year college/technical degree preferred. Minimum 3 years recent experience. Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid driver's license, be able to drive, maintain a clean MVR and insurance. Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. This position will require the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to go up and down stairs, climb ladders, bend/stoop, squat/crouch, kneel and twist. *** 5 DC is a 24/7 operation. Varied shifts, OT, weekends & holidays may be required.

JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Stage Manager for live newscasts, including props, you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth and efficient production during live television broadcasts. You will be responsible for managing the stage, props, and the coordination of various elements to support the production team and on-air talent. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work well under pressure will be essential in this role.

Must have 2-3 years of experience in a live production or broadcast. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Must be able to lift 20 lbs unassisted and be able to stand upright for long periods of time. This is a IATSE position and membership is required.

NewsNation is currently searching for a part-time Studio Technician for our nationally broadcast shows originating from our Washington DC studio .

Responsibilities:

• The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of live production elements, specifically news production, and be able to operate live broadcast equipment.
• Perform functions including, but not limited to: A2, stagehand & robotic camera operation.
• Must know how to deliver high quality broadcasts, have a passion for journalism and thrive in the technical news production environment.
• May be asked to train others or create training documentation.
• Must be able to communicate and document effectively and concisely to the rest of the team.
• All day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be a part of the schedule with overtime as situations and breaking news demand.

Qualifications:

• Five plus (5+) years' experience in professional live television broadcast operations required.
• Be detail-oriented and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Other engineering/broadcast operations experience in areas of routing, CGs, video playback, wiring & signal flow a plus.
• Candidate should be a problem solver and quick thinker to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news, be self-sufficient and have a "press-on-regardless" attitude.
• Must work well in a collaborative team environment.
• Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field preferred.
• This position will require shift work which may include nights, weekends, and holidays, along with overtime as situations and breaking news demand.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a Freelance Lighting Technician to join our New York Bureau! As the Freelance Lighting Technician, you create and maintain lighting effects and cues for *** News Channel and *** Business Network programming and production. The Freelance Lighting Technician will have daily and project-based assignments and work directly with Studio Operations Supervisors, Lead Stage Technicians, Directors, Producers, and other studio crew. You are creative and have an interest in the news and entertainment industry.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support and assist Lighting Director and Stage Tech leads
• Stagehand, rigging, light board operation and programming, special effects, location setups, etc.
• Ladder work
• Set maintenance and repair
• Prop and storage coordination, organization, and maintenance
• Prep, hang, and maintain support and storage facilities
• Operate specialty equipment (bucket & scissor lifts)
• Understand and implement backup protocol when necessary
• Assess, advise and assist with proper stage, scenic and lighting set-ups

**** YOU **** NEED

• 1-3 years of lighting/stagehand experience
• Understanding of ETC lighting consoles (programming, patching)
• Willingness to work overtime and additional shifts to meet the demands of breaking news, programming, and production, specialty scenic or light calls, and/or shift coverage
• Knowledge of digital test equipment for troubleshooting and repairs
• Knowledge of electrical systems, lighting effects, and electronics
• Familiarity with trade and power tools
• Carpentry skills
• Understanding of the importance of health and safety procedures
• Flexibility in working under the pressures of live programming and time constraints
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work with heavy grip gear for extended periods
