Responsibilities:

The Story Editor is responsible for the generation of story ideas and story development through research, outline, treatment, final script, and documentation under the supervision of a senior member of the Story Development team
The Story Editor brainstorms within show teams, generates notes from writers room sessions in an organized and timely fashion, supports the story development team's interactive process, and-as requested-helps flesh out the story of a ride, environmental, and/or *** based attraction
In addition to story, the Story Editor also develops nomenclature, sign copy for supporting show and operational graphics, operational spiels, safety and show dialogue, and assists with legal clearance and language translation as needed
The Story Editor supports company-wide internal and external communications

The Story Editor works independently on small projects of limited complexity, or as a participant on a team for larger scope-from concept to completion

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years in entertainment industry as a writer or writer's assistant (film, theater, television production, or other equivalent experience)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A solid understanding of story structure with ability to write strong dialogue, clear and concise copy, and descriptive prose.

You will be responsible for sourcing, researching, writing, and editing content for daily news broadcasts televised or distributed via digital/multi-platforms. Estimated 20-40 hour per week, schedule will depend upon need, early morning, nights and weekends all a possibility.

Gather, edit, and assemble local news content - focusing on (but not limited to) News, Weather and Traffic for broadcast and multi-platform applications.
Conceptualize stories with producers, reporter, and talent, critique production and writing of news stories and edit stories and related video.
Communicate with show producers and digital team to meet content need requirements.
Gather and package relevant content around key stories from a range of external sources and feeds and content types.
Prepare pre-pro, tease, edit and archive tapes.

Develop and source interesting story ideas, using editorial judgment, coordinating interviews and logistics for field crews.
Know what stories are being covered, who is covering and what platforms the story will air on.
Maintain contact with law enforcement, fire and other agencies to determine coverage of spot news.
Lead editorial meetings, contribute story ideas and responsible for developing and cultivating contacts important to news coverage in the San Diego area.

Your Role Accountabilities...

A *** Copy Editor checks scripts for accuracy, style, balance and conformity to the Executive Producer's instructions and *** Standards. This includes checking source material, verifying font and tape information and printing scripts when they are ready for air.

Copy editors may be called upon to write some scripts. A copy editor may also be asked to review a writer's performance. The copy editor is expected to be a close adviser to the producer on any editorial issues or problems that arise with assigned scripts.

Job responsibilities include editing copy so scripts are easy to understand, more interesting and more user-friendly. Work toward compelling, conversational anchor copy that is accurate and up to date. Print scripts when ready. Check accuracy of all components of program, including graphics and other on-air editorial elements. Rework scripts when necessary. Work to improve network-wide accuracy by pointing out errors if/when they occur in Wires *** or other resources, or on the air.

The copy editor will need to demonstrate a strong familiarity with *** Stylebook and *** Legal Standards to ensure consistency that increases *** 's credibility. Your New Role...

As a Video Editor at *** , you will be required to edit all content and elements for *** 's Amanpour shows for International and for Domestic. You will understand the different demands required to edit both effectively and creatively to deliver the Amanpour edit to *** I and to PBS.

This person will be a key element of a three-person Video Edit team within *** London's Amanpour show teams, collaborating with Christiane Amanpour and all the producers on the creative and editorial direction of the show, as well as advising on aspects of shooting and post-production techniques that will enhance the end product.
