Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Provides leadership for the promotions team
•Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion, and termination of employees
•Develops and executes promotions strategies to enhance station competitiveness
•Manages and leads the department to create new and profitable initiatives and events
•Manages recruitment and development of talented promotions team members
•Prepares an annual department budget and approves budget expenditures
•Plans and directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations
•Works with Sales to plan and execute revenue-generating marketing and promotional events and contests that take place on-air, online, and on-site
•Creates and reviews operational records and reports to assess the efficacy of promotions
•Creates client promotions and promotional proposals with members of the Programming and Sales teams
•Ability to develop outside advertising plans with other *** such as radio, cable, billboards, and digital
•Experience in working with broadcast networks in executing coop advertising and completing documentation to recover network coop reimbursement
•Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
•Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
•Minimum 3 - 5 years commercial production experience, preferably at a local television station or advertising agency and a college degree in video production, marketing, or related field preferred
•Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
•Advanced knowledge of the post-production process, including *** management and encoding video to various formats
•Knowledge of High-definition (HD) cameras and videography, motion graphics and proper lighting techniques
•Software skills required include Adobe CC Suite production package including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition and *** Encoder
•Meet all deadlines, fulfill scheduling commitments, and consistently achieve quick turnarounds in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
•Organize and archive all completed commercial productions and assets
•Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Training / equipment: Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Proficient in use of computer graphics and editing systems, including Adobe Creative Suite.
Work Environment / Mental / Physical Requirements: This position requires the occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds. Work may be conducted in extreme outdoor weather conditions. Position may require long hours, work on weekends & evenings may be required. High stress environment with deadline pressures. Some travel may be required. The employee in this position must be able to sit, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Repetitive movements are required.
