Job Summary/Description:
**** Territory News is looking for a full-time producer. Come work in our state-of-the-art studio in the beautiful Black Hills! Our ideal candidate is a leader with solid news judgement, intelligence and energy, plus a creative vision for what it takes to produce engaging newscasts.
Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Deliver on-air news events in an engaging, exciting, and accurate manner
- Use editorial judgment to help determine the content of the newscasts
- Work with reporters and news team to create unique, fast-paced newscasts
- Use social *** to determine the content of newscasts and highlight big social stories
- Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of *** (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance newscasts and stories.
- Write for the web and post daily on all digital platforms including social *** and attach images and streaming video
- Interview news subjects and research for facts and credibility
- Deliver breaking news coverage and special event coverage to the community at large
- Collaborate with producers, reporters, and management in the development of broadcast content such as newscasts, promotions, and teases
- Receive assignments and evaluate leads and tips in order to develop story ideas
- Covers news in the field to generate, produce, and deliver high-profile special reports
- Edit video for broadcasts and the web
- Participate in community events and makes public appearances on behalf of the station as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Degree in broadcast journalism preferred. English majors and print journalists are encouraged to apply.
- Must be versed in broadcast and digital writing styles
- Must possess an advanced understanding of newscast presentation.
- Must possess excellent writing and graphics skills with the ability to provide an interesting and substantive product.
- Must be results-oriented.
- Ability to focus on coordination of daily and long-range segments from first contact to on-air products.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure.
