Summary

I like people and I like telling stories, so editing is the perfect job for me! I've been working in TV, corporate and online for over 20 years and have seen and done just about everything in non-fiction. Let's have a laugh and make cool stuff! -gus-

Credits

4/23 – 6/23

Editor (Media Composer) True Crime Story: Citizen Detective (Season 1)

AMC — TV — World of Wonder Productions Details
4/23 – 6/23

I helped edit and find the look and feel for a new kind of true crime series with a twist. I edited one episode as lead editor, and lent edit help on a few other episodes in this 6 episode premiere season. Edited, scored, built fx, addressed notes, and did story adjustments for each episode I worked on.

2/23 – 4/23

Editor (Media Composer) Building Impossible with Daniel Ashville (Season 1)

National Geographic — TV — Hoff Productions Details
2/23 – 4/23

I helped edit the first season of this new series for National Geographic. I helped edit picture and sound, build out montage sections, scored large portions of the show, helped find sound bites, etc. I primarily worked on one episode, and helped out on other episodes where my assistance was needed.

1/20 – 12/22

Lead Editor (streaming educational / tutorial video and audio)

Staff Position — MasterClass Details
1/20 – 12/22

As a lead / senior editor and people manager at MasterClass, I worked with a variety of rewarding team members and expert instructors. I contributed to the style and content of such classes as President George W. Bush Teaches Leadership, Sheila E. Teaches Percussion, John Legend Teaches Songwriting For Impact, and others. I also was one of the editors working on a variety of MasterClass promotional and experimental content. Additionally, I was people manager of 2-4 other editors / assistant editors, and helped manage and guide them in their growth path at MasterClass.

3/04 – 1/20

Lead Editor (TV / video production company)

Staff Position — Hoff Productions Details
3/04 – 1/20

Over my 16 years with Hoff Productions, I cut hundreds of hours TV and corporate content. As an editor at Hoff, I was trusted with the look and feel of most of the shows I worked on. I chose music, sound effects, stock footage, did all picture and sound editing and design, color correction. We had tight deadlines, and I was entrusted to identify and if possible, to solve story problems on my own to keep things moving forward, diving into transcript or writing voice over to find solutions; learned my preditor skills there. I also learned the value of a strong team there, and I think some of my best stuff has come out of the strongest teams.

6/19 – 10/19

Editor (Media Composer) Sharks of the Bermuda Triangle

National Geographic — TV — Hoff Productions Details
6/19 – 10/19

I was the main editor on this shark show; one of many shark shows I have worked on over the years. I helped find the story beats, scored the show, edited picture and nat sound, built out sound design throughout, researched stock footage, and all other responsibilities of a solo editor.

10/18 – 6/19

Lead Editor (reality television series) Donkmaster (Season 1)

Vice Media — TV — Hoff Productions Details
10/18 – 6/19

As lead editor, I worked closely with the story producers as together we found and honed the through lines for each episode, and for the entire season. Since I cut the original sizzle demo that sold the show, I was also trusted to find the style and sound of the series, and I feel it was true to the characters in our doc. My team was very proud of what we put together in that first season.

12/18 – 5/19

Lead Editor Jeffrey Dahmer: Killer Cannibal

Reelz — TV — Hoff Productions Details
12/18 – 5/19

I was the Lead Editor of a group of 3 other editors working on this 120 minute true crime recreation special. I made sure that the look and feel of the editing stayed stylistically uniform despite the variety of editors and their contributing approach to editing true crime television.

1/18 – 9/18

Editor (reality television series) Rocky Mountain Animal Rescue (Season 1)

Nat Geo Wild — TV — Hoff Productions Details
1/18 – 9/18

Editing this animal-rescue reality television series required that editors work closely with in-field story producers during the edit, as we crafted stories live as they were unfolding with animal safety officers and veterinary surgeons. Editors had lots of responsibility in finding and crafting the beats in each episode of this reality series, in addition to identifying and building out the dramatic and more lighthearted moments inherent in such material.
