My main responsibilities as a Location Manager / Scout include finding and securing filming locations as per script descriptions and guidance from creative executives. On a daily basis, I communicate with Producers and Production Designers to work together to find the perfect aesthetic for every scene. I provide scheduling assistance, along with negotiating legal contracts and financial deals, including detailed filming and creative proposals for distribution. Additionally, one of my main priorities is to find what works artistically and logistically. I photograph potential filming spaces and upload pictures to a secure filming location database. I would compose and distribute daily departmental memos outlining work guidelines for each filming location. I would submit permits for filming and track budgeting and departmental hours to ensure the department stayed within budget and followed all production protocols.
