The *** team is looking to add a talented Principal Engineer as part of Global Streaming Technology group.
You will be a key technical leader within the VOD team, responsible for driving the development and implementation of engineering projects. The role involves solving complex technical problems, mentoring junior engineers and cross-team collaboration. You will ensure the quality of all backend systems meet requirements, ensuring quality, performance and goals against KPI's are met. You will become a part of a team that builds and supports applications for all platforms, delivering metadata and video content to millions of users.

You will be working with a team of quality assurance professionals, providing guidance and instruction to ensure the level of quality being delivered adheres to high standards the *** team expects. You will be responsible for end-to-end testing of all product deliverables leveraging various methods and workflows that include automation, eyes-on-glass, regression, and the testing of incremental features across platform verticals.
What the team does - The VOD Engineering team builds E2E video on demand solutions
- The VOD team is responsible for the automated *** pipeline delivering content to *** U's streaming platforms including *** .
- Troubleshoots issues arising in the VOD pipeline.
- Configures encoding of video, audio and subtitles for delivery across various platforms/devices.
- Research new technologies in the *** space and conduct POCs.
- Collaborates with Operations, player and client teams to drive innovation and improvements in video delivery.
Responsibilities - Define technical direction and make high-level decisions regarding system architecture, design and implementation
- Contributes to the design and architecture of video encoding and packaging solutions
- Ensure that the requirements, designs and architecture incorporate resiliency, reliability and observability
- Ability to leverage tools, such as lucid charts and others, to visually capture E2E component infrastructure with rich detail
- Responsible for creating, documenting and updating *** workflow diagrams
- Review requirements and specifications of new and existing features, translating these into test cases for manual and automated workflows
- Drive innovation by researching and implementing new technologies and methodologies
- Lead code reviews and ensure high standards of code quality
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, or related field
- Min 10 years of experience in engineering, software architecture and design
- Deep understanding and experience in video workflows, codecs, DRM, encoding, and packaging including CMAF, HEVC, UHD, HDR, ABR, HLS, Dash, SSAI
- Strong knowledge of Cloud technologies inclusive of AWS, Azure and GCP
- Knowledge of OTT streaming protocols such as CMAF, HLS and DASH
- An owner, committed to quality in every task, large or small
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
