This person must be passionate about covering breaking news and enterprising stories that set the standard for local news coverage.
Core Responsibilities: - Aggressively respond to breaking news by monitoring scanners, social *** and other tools
- Communicate and manage updates to the daily editorial plan with reporters, crews and the newsroom
- Assign station resources to cover stories, including dispatching reporters, photographers and the chopper, as appropriate
- Contribute to daily editorial meetings by pitching stories
- Must be able to handle logistics and meet deadlines
- Develop sources with local and state agencies and community organizations
- Leverage social *** to spot trends/problems that may indicate the need for coverage
- Field produce and conduct interviews
Requirements: - Prior experience as an assignment editor is required
- Must have knowledge of the tri-state area
- Must be curious and willing to learn new skills
- Must be willing to work all shifts, including holidays and weekends
- Proven track record of being organized and capable of juggling multiple tasks
- Must have strong news judgement

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hiring Salary Range: $99,788.00 - 110,000.00.
The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
