How you'll make an impact:The Product Certification team seeks a highly motivated Director, Quality Engineering to manage and optimize Product Certification tests team's scheduling and execution. In this role, you will drive operational excellence and efficiency within our organization, collaborating closely with key stakeholders to ensure all products are validated and ready for production. Your primary responsibility will be assigning and managing the Product Certification software testing team members and coordinate with SXM OEM Applications teams. They will be working in software quality assurance that requires the ability to write and communicate clearly, while responding quickly to changes in requirements and/or schedules.
What you'll do:- Manage, scheduling, mentoring, and training Product Certification 9 team members and daily testing schedules as required.
- Drive certification testing efficiencies by partnering with multiple cross-functional teams including (but not limited to) Product Certification, OEM Applications Engineering, Software Dev Apps, OEM Product, Automotive Software and Tools Technology & Engineering and Systems Integration, Tools & Automation teams.
- Project manage and lead Product Certification testers.
- Provide training and support to Product Certification testing team members, best practices, and new features.
- Assist Applications Engineers in troubleshooting hardware and set-up issues that block test progress.
- Work with other functional groups to communicate and resolve issues blocking PC testing.
- Generate standardized software validation test reports and user interface issues lists for communication of status within *** and to external partners. Lead review meetings of test results with all internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with *** partners to resolve outstanding user interface software issues, and other issues, during the product development process.
- Provide feedback/input for continuous improvements on test plans/cases/steps
- Test partner head units and applications for Product Certification to SXM user interface and protocol requirements.
What you'll need:- The candidate has a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering. MS degree preferred.
- 9-12 years' experience related to software quality assurance (SQA), software testing, or otherwise working with computers or other electronic devices is desired.
- Experience using BDD formats (Gherkin) test cases.
- 8+ years of experience in automotive infotainment testing / engineering.
- 4+ years of management experience.
- Experience using BDD formats (Gherkin) test cases.
- Experience with software testing of user interface or communication protocols to include such as SMITE/Mimosa and other Proprietary SXM owned tools, Charles, WinSCP, Android Studio & ADB, PuTTy, Tera Term, CAN Tools.
- Working knowledge of Java, C, C++; understanding of HTML5, JavaScript, Qt/QML, Genivi and others used in automotive and mobile environments a plus.
- Familiarity with IP communications standards, mobile connectivity, audio streaming, and security/authentication methodologies.
- MS-Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Defect/issue tracking tools such as Jira.
- File sharing and collaboration tools - Google Drive, Slack.
- Experience with man in the middle (IP sniffer) tools such as Charles or Wireshark.
- Experience with Android Debug Bridge (ADB), Linux, and/or QNX.
- Understanding of CAN messages.
- Experience with scripting in Ruby or Python.
- Basic hardware troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to quickly learn proprietary SW/HW tools and other new tools.
- Direct experience working with Android, QNX, and Linux embedded environments.
- Good public speaking and presentation skills.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.
- Excellent written (spelling, grammar, proofreading and editing skills) and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
