Responsibilities:
- Write on-air news content in an engaging, conversational authentic tone
- Research and write on-air content that is factual, current, balanced and grammatically correct
- Fill in as line producer on newscasts as needed, which includes timing the show
- Demonstrate strong news judgement and understand the basics of journalism
- Understand showcasing content and talent for segments you may write or develop
- Come to work prepared, with knowledge of today storylines, news from previous days with new developments for Daybreak
- Meet daily deadlines
- Potentially booth continuous coverage of live breaking news/weather and community events
- Ability to collaborate respectfully with all levels of personnel and members of the newsroom and other projects as assigned
- Perform other tasks/special projects as required by supervisor or executive producer
Requirements:
- BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field
- 2-4 years of experience preferred
- Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts,
- Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, Canva and Axis graphics a plus
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
