MTV2 is seeking an assistant editor to provide overall support for the post production team. This includes basic assistant editor duties, working with the supervisor to execute various editorial projects which involves, but is not limited to, ingesting, archiving, and prepping network shows for mix. Experienced AEs with network show backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
The position reports to the post production supervisor and plays an important role working with multiple editors and the post production support team.
Responsibilities:
-offload nightly shoot materials off a server drive for show prep (multi clip in Premiere, organize shoot dates)
-Identify types of source media/ancillary coming in (DSLR,AVCHD, downloads) for ingest using Adobe apps.
-Media management of multiple projects in an XSan environment.
-Transcoding files for multiple platforms.
-Assisting editors for string outs, prepping multi-cam edits, exporting cuts and take over smaller edits for out of house requests.
-Follow naming conventions for all media and keeping it consistent thru the workflow.
-Working with other groups for ongoing needs (discs, links, graphic loops, on site support)
Basic Requirements:
-Must be expert user of Adobe Creative Cloud apps not limited to Premiere, AfterEffects, Photoshop,Prelude, etc
-Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot edit maintenence issues (ex: media offline, audio issues, reconnecting old projects, etc)
-Able to handle multiple requests in a fast paced environment.
-Know the differences between file codecs from tapeless material.
-Understand the digital delivery process and the types of files exported for on/air & online.
-Comfortable in a Mac environment as well as the ability to multitask under changing priorities.
-Flexible for weekend work and rotating schedule when the need arises.
-Bachelor's Degree and someone genuinely interested in post production who wants get on track to be an editor.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary
