Job Description

*** News Digital is looking for a talented producer to join its Digital Docs and Enterprise team. This new role will report to a Senior Producer and will create innovative, mid-form and long-form, in-depth news stories for *** News. We're looking for a strong editorial producer who sees the digital doc, video forensics, and long-form narrative opportunities in a hard news cycle. They should have a knack for knowing how to report and tell stories that will breakout and resonate well beyond a fast-moving news cycle and know how to distill editorial complexity into the video medium.

This role requires experience in reporting, pre-production, shooting, field producing, scripting, putting together radio cuts, overseeing and collaborating with video editors, working with the motion graphics team, and fact-checking your video pieces. Additionally, the producer will collaborate with correspondents, reporters, and editors throughout the organization, so should be well-versed in how to do so effectively. Responsibilities

Pitch and develop original story ideas
Produce stories under deadline and sometimes under tight turnarounds
Creative vision to conceptualize a longform story from preproduction through post-production
Research, report and develop strong editorial stories identifying the most compelling interview subjects and editorial points

Your New Role...

The Producer for Food Network develops and creates new programming, and takes on production responsibilities on projects including: late seasons of established series, ITK programming, major revisions to new inventory, 'A level' reversions of acquisitions, new content based on existing library content, amongst others. Works closely with Supervisor to ensure deadlines, budgets and deliverables are met.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Handle a prime time late season established series that continues to need production and editorial oversight. This includes working with production company and PMD on schedule, budget questions, casting, editorial screening, deliverables and working with all in house departments including talent relations, marketing, press, ad sales, scheduling and production management.

Handle 'A Level' program reversioning as assigned. Includes developing production schedule, working with Talent Relations to select and coordinate narrator/talent, working with editing department, collaborating with legal department to identify potential legal issues, supervising off-line, on-line, narration record and mix sessions.

Coordinate special projects such as internal/external presentation tapes for industry markets/events, quarterly tapes, corporate events, etc.

Facilitate program fixes (changes in narration, graphics, picture, and audio, as needed) and in-house editorial as required.

For assigned projects, manage project production schedule for contract compliance and overall project workflow. Track deliverables and communicate fulfillment of production milestones, production issues or changes, to project team members and manager.

Manage and distribute production delivery schedules, episode descriptions, and other relevant program updates using appropriate databases.

As required for assigned project, coordinate and communicate with other DCI departments. Including:

Press/IPR - Provide treatments, episode descriptions, cuts, production delivery dates and shoot locations.

Programming - Provide episode descriptions, episode and show titles, program clips for as sales reels, delivery updates, and Upfront information. Develop alternative program titles, facilitate title clearance process, provide parental ratings, and recommend viewer advisories.

Program Editing/Shared Program Services - Notification of master deliveries, production schedules, suggested edits, viewer advisories, renarration and off-line / on-line supports as needed, and assist in resolving QC issues.

Production Management - Provide timely updates on production schedules, milestone payment confirmation and other deliverables information.

Awards / Competition - Provide required information for selected award entries and/or materials (includes information such as clips, episode and segment selection, program descriptions, credits, contact info.)

Job Description

What you'll do:

At *** , Booking Producers work within a show unit to pitch ideas as well as book guests for a live show.

Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

Find and book compelling guests for the show, following booking protocols.
Maintain planning editorial calendar with important upcoming news events and book relevant guests in advance
Book guests for breaking news events (this may include early morning or after-hours outreach)
Implement work with guidance from Senior and Executive Producer.
Conduct pre-interviews of guests and identify key headlines for segment
Handle any necessary travel logistics for guests
Coordinate with guests and companies to secure guest headshots
Establish, develop and maintain good relationships with financial and business news sources.
Work with anchors on confirming their bookings and coordinating logistics
Book control room and edit time for pre-recorded guest segments

As a Senior Producer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the show's daily content. You understand the essence of Outnumbered's unique format and style and can pitch new and original ideas in a collaborative team setting. Build the show's rundown with original content and best elements while maintaining impeccable editorial standards
Facilitate effective communication with the show's three co-hosts and two on-air guests
Manage and communicate with talent, producers, bookers, and the control room during breaking news
Identify and recognize stories with high potential for compelling television
Mentor and develop show staff including Line Producers, Writers, Bookers, APs, and Production Assistants
Approve and edit scripts, banners, and full screens
Participate in daily team meetings to develop show content
Oversee the execution and production of the show

**** YOU **** NEED

Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience
6+ years of newsroom experience, including producing / line producing a television newscast
Demonstrated experience with handling on-air talent
Exceptional editorial and writing skills
Ability to recognize stories with high potential for compelling television
Passion for storytelling with a strong creative drive and willingness to take risks
Excellent time management and organizational skills, coupled with the ability to establish a team-oriented work atmosphere
Attention to detail, an aptitude for working under tight deadlines, and effectively handling multiple priorities simultaneously
