Job Summary/Description:
****-TV, the top-ranked station in the Columbus market, is searching for an Assignment Editor to plan and organize coverage for our news operation. The ideal candidate will be able to embrace a multi-platform workflow within a dynamic newsroom setting.
Our Assignment Editor is responsible for working with news managers to organize day-to-day coverage of news events. The ideal candidate will organize our station's news calendar, relay information to employees, and help identify potential stories for coverage.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Coordinate planning and execution of coverage plan across multiple platforms.
- Managing logistics and resources.
- Newsgathering (including developing story ideas, confirming information, and breaking news coverage).
- Create and publish content to digital and social *** platforms.
- Communicate with broadcast and digital producers, and field crews.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or related field.
- Demonstrated mastery of digital and social *** strategy.
- Excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritize tasks and information under pressure are required.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have scheduling flexibility.
