Your Impact

The *** Magazines Enthusiast & Wellness Group is looking for a senior editor to join the growing reviews team for Popular Mechanics . The ideal person for this role is obsessed with product review content and has a passion for product and ser *** journalism, as well as finding and recommending worthy products. You should feel confident packaging and editing stories for both editorial and search success with compelling imagery, attention-grabbing headlines, and clear, authoritative copy. Even *** ter: You're a pro at diving into data and using reporting tools to inform content strategy.

Popular Mechanics is the authority in a number of key categories including lawn and garden, tools and home improvement, electronics and technology, appliances and smart homes, and outdoor leisure. Since you'll have the opportunity to recommend products to over 8 million readers per month, a genuine interest in our coverage areas is a must. We need someone who feels comfortable taking a piece from start to finish, from coming up with the idea, to assigning the story, to editing the story, to setting it live. You should also be skilled at making data-driven decisions and seeking out new opportunities based on content trends and search opportunities.

This role sits in the Enthusiast Group office in Easton, PA, and works closely with a variety of departments, including Editorial, Performance Marketing, and Commerce. What you'll do:

• Pitch, assign, and edit reviews stories that respond to a season, a trend, or a sale. This primarily involves assigning to external freelancers, with the potential to work with in-house staffers as well. There will also be an opportunity to write.
• Work closely with our editorial teams to edit content to ensure it fits the brand's voice and style while still driving revenue.
• Conduct original reporting to add service, expertise, and authority into product reviews; you must be comfortable getting on the phone with a source
• Liaise with photo and digital design teams to further establish a hands-on testing process for our freelance network.
• Collaborate with SEO and central commerce teams to ensure all content is optimized for search and commerce
• Monitor news cycle to identify content opportunities, whether with new or existing content
• Track performance of content in order to inform and execute new areas of growth to increase affiliate commerce revenue.

Who you are:

• Someone with a bachelor's degree and 5+ years' experience creating and editing commerce content at a digital-first outlet.
• A sharp writer and editor with strong editing and optimization skills.
• Able to understand analytics and translate them into editorial action - familiarity with Google Analytics, Looker, Skimlinks, or similar reporting tools is a plus.
• Able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and comfortable leading strategy for a team of writers.
• Well-versed in building strong relationships and explaining complex topics in simple terms.
• Available to work major shopping holidays.

Your impact:

The Enthusiast Group is searching for an ambitious and creative Photo Director to join our team. This person will develop and execute the visual style for the brand's photography content according to brand standards and manage a team of photo editors and photographers. Candidates should have extensive experience managing and facilitating photoshoots from start to finish. The ideal candidate is an organized self-starter with a strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. They will also bring both creative and technical expertise to all projects they work on. This position reports into our Creative Director.

What you'll do:

• Develop and execute the brand's visual styles.

• Edit photos, both commissioned and stock.

• Collaborate with the art and all departments to conceptualize creative for shoot concepts.

• Research and develop new talent and current trends.

Technical Requirements:

• Adobe Creative Suite

• Proficient understanding of studio photography needs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Art/Photography

• 5+ years of experience in photography production and management

• Excellent editing skills and time management ability

The multi *** editor will generate and distribute content that supports the group's membership, affiliate, and licensing goals, and makes an impact within and beyond our endemic communities.

Working with the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Editor of Social *** and other senior editorial staff, including the directors of Service, Product, and Test content, the multi *** editor will spearhead the creation of succinct and compelling video clips that not only enhance the authenticity and credibility of our expert gear reviews and hands-on test stories, but also generate revenue through accolades and licensing opportunities with external brands.
