The Harry Potter Flagship Store in New York is hiring!

We are hosting a one-day Hiring Event for Associate's at the Harry Potter store on 935 Broadway, New York, NY 10010 on Wednesday, May 1st, from 9am-1pm.

Event Location: The Harry Potter Store at 935 Broadway, New York, NY 10010

When:Wednesday, 5/1/2024 from 9am-1pm.

We are hiring both regular and seasonal Associate's for the following departments:

• Sales(Cash handling, guest experience, etc.)
• PersonalizationSales(Personalize purchases such as embroidery, engraving, etc.)

• Back of House
• Visual Merchandise

What to expect:

• You will check in with our team before your interview time at the Butter Beer Caf near the Broadway Ave entrance. Upon arrival you will fill out a check-in sheet which will ask you what roles you are interested in and what your weekly availability is.
• After check-in, an Assistant Store Manager will take you on a tour of the store. While on the tour please be prepared to answer questions regarding your experience and retail background.
• After your tour, you will be escorted back to the check-in area and be provided with instructions on what to expect next.
• Estimated Tour & Interview Duration: 20 minutes

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Food Stylist to help prepare food for television, web, and various other mediums. This person will work closely with the Culinary Producer to prepare the dishes and to use styling techniques, so food looks desirable and lasts for the length of the TV spot and/or photo shoot.

PLEASE NOTE: This is ashort termposition with an estimated duration of 24 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the Culinary Producer with brainstorming, development of food/Culinary segments for the broadcast.
• Aid in the planning, prepare and style food for product demonstration.
• Interact and educate show hosts and guests on food preparation tips.
• Organize and keep kitchen clean and free of safety hazards.
• Interact with buyers regarding product list and determine what foods are needed to be presented.
• Shop for food item to be demonstrated on-air.
• Work closely with photo stylist to execute food production demonstration. Inventory all kitchen items and ensure they are placed back in the proper room after use.
• Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an *** Universal-designated worksite.

Qualifications

• At least 1yearof food experience at a top lifestyle website, publication or channel
• A bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional experience
• Must be an organized self-starter with exceptional time management skills
• Should be able to work efficiently in a high-paced and high-energy environment.

• A passion for food content and a proven track record of sourcing content that fits within a specific editorial voice and aesthetic.

What we'll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regularwho works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:

Responsibilities:

• Maintain standards and specifications related to food preparation and food handling daily, understand measurement requirements
• Check and maintain proper temperatures throughout the preparation, cooling, holding, and serving of food items
• Observe and test food being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with cooking utensils to determine that food is cooked properly, according to specifications
• Clean kitchen equipment
• Handle special dietary requests and to work with Guest requiring special requests due to dietary concerns
• Prepare sauces "a la minute" using advanced sauce preparation techniques

• Bone and clean shellfish, cut, trim or grind meats, fish or poultry

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Conversational communication skills are required
• Minimum 2 years of recent line cook experience; including grill and saute or a culinary certificate and 1 year of recent line cook experience; including grill and saute
• Knowledge of variety of kitchen equipment, including wood/coal burning grills, broilers, dehydrators, sous vide, vector ovens, blast/recirculating chillers and cryovac
• Proficiency in all stations of the line, including grill and saute, as well as proficient skills with knives, tools and kitchen equipment
• Knowledge of modern and classical cooking, including but not limited to saute, roasting, saucier, braising, and measurements
• Knowledge of butchering experience
• Knowledge and understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines including temperature requirements and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) while understanding the science in cooking temperatures
• Elevated plating techniques
• Advanced product identification and seasonal availability
• Stock and sauce refinement

• Basic understanding of kitchen lingo and etiquette as well as exhibits clean work habits and ownership of a safe, clean work area
• Receptive to working on-stage and working on the chef's table, if needed
• Awareness of modern and classical cooking, as well as knife skills and basic butchering techniques
• Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required, and Cast Members will be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies

What You Will Do

• Prepare dishes from scratch for a variety of locations throughout our restaurants while encompassing a diverse offering of cuisines
• Work cleanly and safely within culinary and food preparation
• Follow recipes and an understanding of recipe conversion
• Learn and develop alongside our culinary team

Responsibilities:

Culinary Assistant, Cook II

• Work in a fast-paced a la carte, buffet, catering/special events, production, or quick service/food court environment (may include an on-stage cooking location)
• Gain skills in culinary fundamentals in hot and cold food station setup, sauce-making, and salad/sandwich preparation
• Knowledge of food allergies, seasonal ingredients and menus
• Proficiency in stations of the line, including deep-frying, sauteing, roasting, boiling, and grilling, along with vegetable, grains, and starch cookery

Culinary Assistant, Baking & Pastry

• Work in a fast-paced bakery, banquet, catering/special events, production or restaurant environment
• Learn the technical skills of plated dessert preparations as well as muffins, breads, cookies, petit fours, and cupcakes
• Gain exposure to food cost control and product ordering
• Proficiency in mixing, cutting, proofing, and baking

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application
• Possess unrestricted work authorization within the United States*
• Be fully available to work Sunday through Saturday, including days and nights, holidays and overtime
• Knowledge of HACCP, proper food handling techniques, temperatures, and food safety
• Display proficient knife skills and knowledge of basic cuts
• Good communication skills and outstanding Guest Service
• Able to stand/walk for the entire shift, lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work in various locations including indoor and outdoor environments

• Students with additional years of experience/education may be considered for a Cook 1 or Baking & Pastry 1 role

Required Education

• Full-time or part-time student in a Culinary Arts/Baking & Pastry program seeking a certificate or degree in the United States*

• Graduated in the past twenty-four (24) months
• Currently enrolled students may need to meet additional school requirements, such as:
