Texture Artist Production Jobs

Job Summary:

LM's Groom Artist Team sits alongside our Digital Model Shop and Creature Teams. Creating hair, fur and/or feather grooms for characters and creatures as part of the Creature / Character pipeline for high-end VFX projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Creation of fur/feather/hair/environment grooms for characters, creatures and environments using a mix of off the shelf and ILM proprietary tools
• Collaborate with Creature TD's to determine requirements and solutions for dynamics and layouts
• Paint colour and specular maps for hair, fur and feathers
• Work closely with additional departments in the Creature workflow including Modeling, Animation and Lighting
• Maintains or exceeds consistent level of productivity while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work

Required Skills / Technical Competencies:

• Proven experience within a high-end VFX facility
• Demo reel and portfolio illustrating knowledge and experience in painting, illustration or design
• Familiarity with film production; computer graphics
• Attention to detail
• Proven Groom skills within a high-end VFX production environment
• Ability to learn quickly and assimilate new information
• Good interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills / Competencies:

• Good organizational skills
• Grooming portfolio with creatures, digidoubles, and feathers
• Ability to liaise with various parts of the Computer Graphics pipeline
• Proficient in Maya, Houdini, Mari (preferred), Zbrush, Photoshop, or Bodypaint
• Ability to navigate complex Computer Graphics pipelines
• Texture/ Surfacing painting skills a plus

Education / Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or equivalent with a strong traditional art foundations: including but not limited to figure drawing, concept art and illustration
• 5+ years relevant experience

Rocksteady is looking for a Lead UI Artist to join our dedicated and collaborative team working on our upcoming title Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

The ideal candidate will possess both experience with, and passion for, creating high quality user interfaces that enable an intuitive, accessible and enjoyable gameplay experience. Working with a team of developers, this role will be highly collaborative and key to our mission to deliver an exceptional experience for all of our players.

This role will be expected to work in a hybrid pattern, with some time in the week spent onsite in our London studio.

Your Role Accountabilities...

• Work with the Art director to establish UI art direction, brand and style guides - maintaining a consistent style throughout the project
  
• Work with Directors and Leads to determine requirements and development of all UI features, communicating status of deliverables proactively
  
• Collaborate and liaise with Artists, Designers, and Programmers in the implementation of UI features - iterating on Design & User feedback to polish and improve features
  
• Manage documentation and flow diagrams for UI/UX features
  
• Delegate and maintain an equitable workload across the UI Art team, communicating with Project Leadership and stakeholders on deliverables
  
• Create opportunities for the UI Artists to expand their skillset and knowledge, understanding their career vectors and developing growth pathways for them
  
• Explore and provide solutions when the UI visual direction co *** icts with the needs of the game design or technical limitations
  
• Review workflow and tools in the UI production pipeline, to proactively identify bottlenecks or areas for improvement to developer efficiency
  
• Collaborate and supervise outsource UI Art teams, to ensure delivery of work to specification
  

Qualifications & Experience...

• Able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge and application of UX, Accessibility & player-focused design principles - through work in complex Game projects, ideally with AAA targets
  
• Demonstrable professional graphic design skills - particularly layout, typography, and colour theory application
  
• Excellent knowledge of Figma and Adobe software for 2D Design
  
• Appreciation of current interaction and design trends in Games, particularly across PC & Console titles
  
• Experience with Unreal Engine and node-based visual scripting is highly desirable
  
• Knowledge of Unreal materials/shaders for UI texture optimisation and animation is beneficial
  
• Demonstrate motion graphic skills is a bonus, i.e. Adobe After Effects
  
• Knowledge of industry standard Game Development 3D software is helpful
