About: Mythical Entertainment is a production company headed by Rhett & Link. Their four YouTube channels have over 20 million subscribers and more than 4.2 billion views. Rhett & Link host the internet’s most popular daily show, Good Mythical Morning, wrote and star in the YouTube Red series Buddy System, and produce a slate of comedy-focused content under their Mythical banner.
Position: Mythical seeks an experienced, resourceful and creative-minded Art Director to collaborate on the wide variety of art needs for ‘Good Mythical Morning’ and ancillary content. The role requires hands-on building experience, excellent prop-making skills, consistent attention to detail, a passion for creating unique and exciting things, and a firm grasp of art department organization.
The ideal candidate will determine how to best execute innovative content by thinking outside of the box while having an eye for creative/budget-friendly problem solving. The person in this role will also demonstrate strong communication skills and is excited about the idea of collaborating with a team of talented writers and producers.
Responsibilities:
- Work with writers and producers to determine the art needs for every episode
- Attend weekly production meetings and provide updates on the status of props for various episodes
- Create the art department schedule and deadlines, taking into account prep time and episode shoot dates
- Work with the production team to track spending to ensure the art department is within episode and monthly budgets
- Research and develop unique prop and set requests, while working with writers and producers to ensure you are in-line with what they imagined
- Design, build, and paint various props and set pieces
- Monitor and maintain the organization of set dressing, props, and the workshop
- Periodically assist in creating or sourcing specific wardrobe needs
Requirements:
- At least 3 years experience working in Art Departments
- Background in managing design of projects from concept to completion
- Applicant must be familiar with the tools of the trade. You will be building set pieces and crafting one of kind props. Ideal candidates will have experience with the following:

- Ability to effectively manage, support, and grow an art team
- A thorough understanding of art department workflow and organization
- An understanding of basic accounting practices as they pertain to art department purchases
- Ability to work independently, quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to remain calm, positive and collaborative under pressure
- Excellent work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
