Job Requirements: Must be local to location (or willing to work as a local).

As a camera operator, you'll work with digital, electronic and film cameras and produce required shots by combining the use of complex technology with creative visual skills.

You'll work under a director and may be supported by a utility tech.

Field Production (FP) - working as part of a team of camera operators filming live events, ATV & Dirt bike racing.

On location - where there is likely to be more opportunity for creativity through suggesting shots to the director.

Responsibilities

As a television camera operator, you'll need to:

1. assemble, prepare and set up equipment prior to filming, which may include tripods, monitors, lighting, cables and leads and headphones
2. offer advice on how best to shoot a scene and explain the visual impact created by particular shots
3. there may be only one chance to get things right, so shots need to be meticulously planned beforehand
practice the camera moves required for pre-arranged shots
4. find solutions to technical or other practical problems (for an outside broadcast, for example, the natural light conditions need to be taken into account when setting up shots)
5. be prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas
6. work quickly, especially as timing is such an important factor
7. take sole responsibility in situations where only one camera operator is involved in the filming
8. keep up to date with filming methods and equipment
9. repair and maintain equipment
10. demonstrate a good awareness of health and safety issues
11. drive crew, actors and equipment to and from locations.
12. help with tear down on Sunday after racing.
13. Part of the role involves interacting and maintaining good working relationships with other members of the crew and cast, including the:

director
producer
utility tech
track crew

About the Tournament:
Inviting an experienced camera operator for live rugby matches. The role involves filming rugby action using a zoom lens on sticks, gimbal, or monopod, according to your expertise.

Matches are 14 minutes long, with 7-minute halves. Expect to film 3 matches per day for a total of 42 minutes of game time. The schedule is dynamic, with games spread throughout the day - typically one in the morning, early afternoon, and later afternoon.

As a camera operator, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality footage of rugby matches, ensuring dynamic and engaging content for our viewers. The role demands a keen eye for detail, the ability to follow fast-paced sports action, and a solid understanding of sports filming techniques.

The two types of acceptable styles that you can use on this project:
1. Lead Cam A Operator: Filming with a zoom lens on sticks, preferably up to 200 or 300mm to follow the player with the ball
2. Assistant Cam B Operator: Filming using a gimbal or monopod following as closely as possible to the action.

Responsibilities:
Operate camera equipment to capture high-quality footage of rugby matches.
Work closely with the producer and client to achieve desired visual outcomes.
Ensure all equipment is set up and tested before each game.
Be flexible and ready to move between different field locations as required.
Capture the energy and excitement of the game, focusing on key moments, plays, and player reactions.

Requirements:
Proven experience as a camera operator, preferably with sports events.
Strong understanding of sports filming techniques and ability to capture fast-moving action.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to move quickly and adapt to schedule changes.
