- Pay Rate: $25.00 - $35.00 - Hourly, depending on experience level.
- Job Requirements: Must be local to location (or willing to work as a local).
-
Additional Requirements:
- Do you have experience managing gear rooms? (camera or L&G rental house, etc)
We are looking for someone with experience managing gear rooms to help us completely reorganize our small studio and gear storage rooms. Ideally this person has a deep knowledge of camera & lighting gear (we mostly use Sony mirrorless cameras + Aputure lighting).
Role Description:
This equipment manager role requires previous experience managing and organizing gear rooms. Experience at rental houses is a huge plus. Ideally this person loves crafting clean and functional equipment spaces.
Full transparency: our studio and gear room is a mess. We’ve spent money and time cleaning it in the past, but it’s been a struggle to maintain that cleanliness because we haven’t prioritized keeping the room as functional as possible.
We’ll be the first to admit that our founders and creatives have very little experience with production. We want to work with you to make sure that our studio and equipment space not only makes sense to you and other camera/lighting experts—but to make sure it makes sense to people with little-to-no experience. Think of it like building a studio space and equipment room for dummies. :)
Specific Duties:
- Assessing the capabilities of our small studio (it’s technically a garage), our “workshop” and indoor/outdoor storage area
- Assessing how we normally use the gear for shoots / how we plan on using the gear in the future
- Collaborating with us and crafting a plan for how to help us build out an intuitive and functional gear system for using in the studio and on location.
- Communicating that plan by generating clear signage to be permanently posted throughout the studio and equipment space
- Recommending systems (spreadsheets, apps, etc) for taking inventory & checking in and checking out gear.
- Itemizing all gear into a master gear inventory
- Executing gear organization + implementing new equipment system.
Some things you should know about this job:
- Days are typically 10 hours/day in person in South Pasadena (at our co-founder Ryan’s home office/studio in South Pasadena)
If you have some or all of the following, please apply:
- 1+ year of experience working in camera + lighting rental houses
- 1+ year of experience working as a 1st AC
- 1+ year of experience working as a grip/gaffer
Pay:
$25-$35/hour depending on experience.
