I'm a director, producer, DP with my own Los Angeles-based production company. I'm shooting part a documentary in the Indianapolis area. It's about technology and about race cars. This shoot #2 of 4.
I will be bringing most of the equipment we need. I need a second DP/shooter/ninja with an open mind and hardworking attitude who is willing to wear many hats to be part of a lean & mean crew of just 2 people (the other crew is me). There will be points where we may divide and both operate at the same time to capture different elements. There's a lot of characters spread out over a large space.
The most technical part of the production is when I will need some help rigging a camera, gimbal, and control system to a chase car. The idea is to achieve Russian-arm-looking shots on an extreme budget. I've done this a few times before and have technical knowledge of how to achieve what we need. I just need someone who can help me with the rigging, and possibly operate the joystick/follow focus.
If you're coming in with the same expectations you'd bring to 50-person crew with catered lunches, frankly, this isn't going to be a good fit for you. If you're into MacGuyvering some blue-chip cinematic footage of some racecars, while telling an intimate character story, and you don't mind getting your hands dirty, you're going to have a blast.
