Title: The Doors Of The Chelsea
Job Requirements: Must be local to location (or willing to work as a local).

I am searching for a veteran and consummate film editor to cut a character-driven documentary feature about the Chelsea Hotel. It has been filmed over a period of 5 years in New York City. It will include some archival footage and animation, but it’s mostly a direct cinema type of documentary in which around 70-80% of the film is verite footage captured over the years with one camera.

This documentary has been conceived upon the notion that nonfiction filmmaking is an art form, and it relies on the power of editing to give shape, structure, and meaning to the material recorded.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following bullet points:

- He/she has a substantial knowledge of techniques for creating and developing a character out of a real person in documentaries.

- He/she has a profound understanding and has extensively worked under the idea that stories from documentaries are often made in the edit room.

- He/she is able to implement editorial choices that propel the plot and sustain a compelling narrative structure.

- He/she is an ambitious storyteller willing to take the lead and adding to the creative process by bringing ideas and a unique viewpoint.

- He/she is comfortable with the idea of forming a creative tandem with the director.

- He/she is capable of seamlessly integrating archival footage and animation sequences into the main storyline.

- He/she has worked as the lead editor in documentary films that have been accepted into major film festivals with industry presence such as Cannes, Toronto, Sundance, Berlin, Rotterdam, Venice, Tribeca, SXSW, etc.

Job Description
Finance news brand is seeking an experienced video editor to edit engaging, informative and timely video features, recurring series episodes and in-depth interviews. The video editor will regularly work on segments ranging from eight to 10 minutes with opportunities to expand stories to 25 minutes for OTT platforms.
