Job Description

Field Producer, ***

The Field Producer brainstorms and pitches ideas, researches topics and works closely with reporter(s) to advance stories, break news and produce segments both in studio and in the field.

What you'll do:

Working both independently and with reporters/anchors to produce original business news content, primarily for broadcast and additionally for digital and social.
Production responsibilities may include research, conducting interviews, writing and editing, field producing and overseeing editing.
Pitching story ideas and working on assigned stories developed by the editorial planning team.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with, and being knowledgeable of and current on companies in the universe of coverage.
Communicating clearly with reporter and field production crews to determine best coverage plan and live remote locations.
Maintaining all video/digital records, feed necessary and relevant video to bureau/headquarters, communicate to editors and/or desk producers how video should be cut/taken to air.
Communicating with *** News desk editors on available live times, understanding and owning all live hit requests, disseminating hit times to reporter and team on the ground. In the bureau/studio, working with reporter on day-of-air hits. Locating all video needed whether it be in-house archival or acquired through shoots, satellite feeds, company hand-outs.
Working with editors to create video elements for reporter live hits and produce packages, creating chyron elements in show rundowns, making sure all elements are done correctly.

The Field Producer is a key position which requires making editorial decisions, coordinating logistics and overseeing the quality of our news coverage in the field and in the bureau. Your Role Accountabilities...

The Associate Producer responsibilities include, but are not limited to: viewing and selecting the strongest and most accurate video elements (packages, sound-bites, B-roll, etc.) for a newscast. APs should be familiar with all important stories and the elements that go with them. They communicate show needs with writers, producers, and assignment desks. • Field production experience and control room experience are necessary.

JOB DESCRIPTION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Line produces assigned newscast, and fills in on other newscasts when necessary.
Line produces unscheduled news coverage as needed. Assigns and supervises associate producers.
Prepares newscast rundowns.
Utilizes a variety of storytelling techniques, devices and studio stage locations to showcase news content in the most compelling and appropriate manner possible.
Builds graphic elements for use in the newscasts.
Collaborates with production staff to execute live newscasts and to develop compelling presentations of newscast content.
Discusses story angles and newscast content with news managers, reporters and assignment editors.
Collaborates with the digital team to identify digital and social *** content to present in the television newscasts, using production styles to maximize viewer interest in the newscast and engagement on the station's digital platforms.
Innovates non-traditional storytelling techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:

Computer literacy
Proficient in writing conversational broadcast news copy under deadline.
