Production secretary
Silver Rose Productions Southold Opera on Long Island is looking for a production secretary for its 2019 season of opera, shows, concerts, Master-classes, Holiday concerts and a singing competition at Carnegie Hall.
No musical or opera background is required but having already worked with high level performers would be a plus.
She/he will be:
• Providing administrative assistance to the executive director/artistic director
• Handling production paperwork such as contract signatures, documents, script changes
• Managing communication with singers, dancers, musicians, conductors,
• Organizing bookings of rehearsal studios
• Organizing auditions
• Arranging travel
• Creating and maintaining performer, crew, and press schedules
• Updating websites and social media
• Photocopying documents as required
• Running the office: manage office supplies and filing documents in archives
• Processing and relaying e-mails and phone calls
• Preparing contents and printing the programs
• Preparing filling required tax documents

The candidate will have to demonstrate exceptional written abilities in English and be able to write formal emails and generate relevant content on the fly.
The candidate is very detail oriented with very good IT skills to keep social media and website's info updated.
This is a part time job: 3 hours/day, 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in Manhattan Upper West Side and + overtime on site during productions, around 10 days per year.
The candidate will work as the right arm of the production director and will need to organize the day-to-day schedule in accordance to the advancement of the productions.

Pay:
1099 independent contractor position
Regular Schedule in Manhattan: $25/hour, 9 work hours/week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays (3 hours/day)
Additional paid working hours on site are required during productions, concerts, rehearsals and auditions on top of the above regular schedule: around 10 days a year including end of the year Holidays or week-ends on the sites of the productions , working hours paid, transportation and lodging provided.
Proposal is for the following period: February 15th, 2019 to January 31st, 2020.
Overtime:
During productions, rehearsals or auditions, the assistant will work to assist the artistic director: between 5 and 8 hours daily at least 10 times a year, on site in Manhattan or at the Southold Opera on Long Island or any location: working hours paid, transportation, lodging provided. The productions happen often around the week-ends, and Holidays.

Due to the seasonality of the work: 12 weeks/year are not worked (not paid). These weeks are : 1 week in April, 1 week in May, 1 week in June, 3 weeks in August, 1 week in September, Thanksgiving week, Christmas, 3 weeks in January
In July, the regular work is at the Southold Opera on Long Island (lodging, transportation provided) to help with the Summer programs.
The job starts February 15th, 2019 will end in January 10th 2020 after preparation and filling of taxes paperwork done.
