- Are you comfortable with part of your job expectation to be arrive early, and coordinate with the onsite church video specialist, and make sure the church is recording the show the best way possible to combine with the footage you will be shooting?
The job will consist of capturing video footage of the entire stand-up comedy show presented in a church. Lighting and sound will be taken care of by the church and will be high quality, but will need to be addressed by the videographer prior to the show beginning in order to best suite the video needs. Audio will be captured through the board with another device, but the audio shot by the videographer will be used to sync with the other cameras already on site, so audio must be captured, and recording must be continuous for the entire run of the show from the hand-held walk around camera for easy post production syncing.
In an ideal world, the videographer would have two unmanned cameras on tripods at the back of the room. One for waste up close up and one for head to toe shot of the comic on stage. If the comic walks out of frame, so be it. These cameras could easily be unmanned and serve our purpose. However, if the vidoegrapher doesn't have 3 cameras to bring, that is not a deal breaker, as the church already has cameras on site. So the videographer could meet early with the church and coordinate that those cameras are capturing the best way possible to go with the project.
What we want the ON-SITE videographer to do is capture hand-held close ups, wide shots, nuance of event shots, cool smash zooms through the comic's face to the back drop and to provide overall professional slick feel to the production value that would be lacking if the video clips created from this show were solely pulled from the unmanned tripod cameras.
HOWEVER, it will be important that the handheld camera is continuously recording, even if recording the ground while walking around, so the shot will be easy to sync on a timeline with the other angles.
We will also want pre-show nuance filmed of people arriving and entering and sitting and backstage with the comics talking and such. As well as after-math of the event of people buying merch and talking to the comics.
The purpose of the shoot will be to create video clips which can be shared as marketing pieces for the CrossTown Comedy brand name. The clips on the current website are not high enough quality relative to what I expect to be getting by hiring someone.
So the entire job would consist of arriving on site, setting up your own unmanned cameras AND/OR coordinating with the church's video folks (who may know very little!) to make sure they are capturing usable footage to match with your hand-held footage, then to record the entire comedy show from 6:30pm until around 8:30pm, then record the after math.
The deliverable will be the files themselves. We can bring hard drives to the location so the footage can be dumped to our drives BEFORE YOU leave the premises. Alternatively, we can purchase outright the memory cards from you. Assuming they are universally usable and not some super expensive card we'd never have another use for etc...
We see the entire job consisting of arriving around 4:30pm and leaving around 9:30pm. We have put 7 hours into the job box just to make sure we cover ourselves.
