Job Summary:

*** 11/****, the *** Owned Television station in Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville, North Carolina, is seeking a creative, innovative, collaborative, and empathetic Executive Producer who executes big-picture goals while focusing on the details of daily editorial coverage.

What You Will Do:

The Executive Producer will have a passion for compelling content and ensure it meets *** 11 Eyewitness News' standard for journalistic integrity.
Our ideal candidate is a news gatherer with a deep understanding of linear and digital storytelling. This role calls for a person who has a passion to drive and produce in-depth storylines, artfully written, structured and crafted into high-impact content. There will be a heavy emphasis on story structure and high production value. We want an editorial leader and critical thinker who can manage content in conjunction with other news managers.

The ideal candidate will:

• Inspire the news team to produce enterprise content across all platforms for a diverse audience
• Collaborate with Assignment Editors, Producers and Reporters on multi-platform breaking news coverage
• Copy edit newscasts, supervise producers and provide consistent feedback by setting goals and tracking progress
• Interact with *** Owned Television Stations and *** partners to develop relationships that lead to story ideas
• Coordinate technical and logistical planning for story assignments

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Minimum 3 years' experience in the newsroom
• Excellent writing skills, possess solid news judgment and ethical decision-making skills
• Champions a highly collaborative, diverse culture that promotes idea generation, open communication and respect for others

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

Job Summary:

About the Role & Program

Our *** 11 Internship Program with the *** 11 Troubleshooter is designed to provide a student with in-depth and hands-on experience trying to resolve viewers' issues with business and consumer-related problems! The intern will also work very closely with *** 11 Troubleshooter Diane Wilson.

What You Will Do

From rip-offs to consumer investigations, our intern will develop their editorial judgement and research skills by reviewing consumer problems. A typical day includes writing emails to the business or company involved in the story, plus confirming the required information and data to move forward to investigate the claim. The intern partners with our *** 11 Troubleshooter in writing and crafting the story for multiple platforms.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Current class standing of sophomore, junior or senior.
• Strong academic record.
• Committed and available to work for the entire length of the internship.
• Must demonstrate knowledge or current events and/or consumer news.
• Able to work in a fast paced, multi-platform and deadline driven environment.
• The ability to work well on teams and collaborative efforts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective communication skills are essential, along with strong writing and video editing skills.
• Familiarity with long form TV and video production.
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

• Major or previous coursework in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, *** Law or related major
• Proficient in Zoom meeting coordination

• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a *** College Program or *** Internship
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a *** internship or program.
• Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

• Be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• The approximate dates of this internship are August 2024 through January 2025
• All candidates must be willing to work 20 hours/week (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor)
• Able to provide own housing for the duration internship program in the Durham, North Carolina area
• Able to provide reliable transportation to/from work in the North Carolina area

About the Role & Program
The Internship Program with the *** 11 Community Engagement Department is crafted to provide one student with a general understanding of the many facets of Community Engagement within the fast-paced *** industry!
As an intern on this team, you will work in a professional environment, and you will gain hands-on experience. As the intern for Community Engagement at *** 11, you will be exposed to station-corporate initiatives and events originated by *** 11. You will also be provided with a view of all aspects of television long-form production and operations in the Community Engagement department. You will have the opportunity to observe and participate in the daily work and operations of a major market television station!

What You Will Do
Some of your projects with the **** ( *** 11) Community Engagement team may include:

• Attend community engagement meetings (virtual & in-person)
• You will assist with the production of the station's campaigns & initiatives
• Assist with studio and taped long-form productions
• Work on Social *** engagement and write PSA & digital copy
• Interaction via Zoom calls, email, and phone with our *** 11 community and corporate partners,
• Connecting with community-based non-profit organizations, and the great communities that interact with and are supported by *** 11.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Curiosity about pursuing a career in television/multi- *** field
• A hard-working professional who is an organized multitasker who strives to competently balance different tasks.
• Are equipped with a strong, ongoing knowledge of long-form TV & video production
• A courteous candidate who is responsible with outstanding attention to detail, professional demeanor, and strong work ethic.
