Broadcast Operations Technician

The Operations Technician maintains the technical integrity of the station's on-air signals and its equipment from acquisition to distribution. You will support all station efforts in-house and on remote location. You will report to the Engineering Director.

Responsibilities

• Operate robotic cameras and studio floor directing
• Move and handle of props and sets during in-house and on-location productions (this could mean helping move heavy equipment)
• Maintain appearance of *** including cleaning of set and floors
• Maintain and understand lighting grid and control board with knowledge to maintain proper programming; climbing ladders to change light bulbs and adjust fixtures
• Dress microphone's and IFB's for all on camera appearances
• Basic multi- *** computer skill and familiarity with current Internet technology including downloading of materials for promos and commercial client spots
• Help with promotional effort at station-sponsored community events as assigned
• Work in control room in technical positions (including camera control, audio and TD)
• Non-linear editing for TV News-Creative Services Productions
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the TV Operations Manager

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience working as an operations technician at a commercial television station with experience operating different broadcast equipment
• Must have a solid background in operation of broadcast television systems and equipment
• Related military experience will be considered
• Must be able to work Holidays, Weekends and shifted hours based upon need when required

You will be responsible to communicate effectively with the production department, as this is integral for a smooth outcome of newscasts. This position supports all station efforts in-house and on remote location. You will report to the Engineering Director.

Responsibilities:

• Operate robotic cameras and studio floor directing

Requirements:

• Should have 2+ years of experience working as an operations technician at a commercial television station with extensive experience in operating a wide variety of broadcast equipment
• Must have excellent vision (with or without corrective lenses) with ability to read and distinguish colors
• Must have a solid background in operation of broadcast television systems and equipment

The ideal candidate will be an effective leader able to inspire and coach a team of journalists. The EP will be an aggressive breaking news leader with creative problem solving abilities. They will be a member of the news management team and will work to develop and execute key newsroom initiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

- Work with show producers, directors, field crews and digital producers for the best showcasing, live shots and digital collaboration in the market
- Plan effectively to provide more content and elevate production values
- Write, and teach staff to write, in a captivating, relevant and authentic manner
- Gather data and relevant information on local and national newsworthy events
- Create and present accurate, fair, unbiased news content as assigned. Responsible for providing news and information across multiple platforms
- Script approval under tight deadlines across all **** platforms
- Stay current on both local and national news events
- Assist with the hiring of employees
- Work cooperatively as a team member under tight deadlines
- The ability to interact professionally and effectively with all internal **** employees and external organizations
- Assist management team with planning of future projects, elections, and other special events

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Strong newsroom leader with a creative vision
- 3 years of experience as a producer in a top 50 market; previous Executive Producer experience preferred
- BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background
- Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts
- Must be willing to work in New Orleans, LA
- Lead and inspire news teams to work together for a great newscast
- Aggressively react/respond to breaking news
- Demonstrated ability of good news judgment and journalistic integrity
- Ability to handle legal concerns pertaining to newscast content
- Teach staff to develop content through social *** and independent sources
- Coach and inspire on air talent
- Ability to interpret information to establish facts and determine truth
- Understanding of Windows-based electronics and the ability to learn ENPS as well as new systems as they are implemented
- Understanding of non-linear editing and the ability to learn Edius as well as new systems as they are implemented
- Act as a team player while displaying an ability to handle a variety of tasks, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, deadline driven, stressful environment
- Ability to interact with all levels of station and corporate management

Job Summary/Description:

**** in New Orleans is seeking an experienced, aggressive New Reporter/MMJ to work Monday-Friday. The candidate must be able to work in a highly functioning, talented newsroom. Candidate must be a self-starting strong journalist with an investigative mindset. We want an excellent writer for broadcast and all multi-platform content, as well as a positive leader inside and outside the newsroom. We're looking for a creative reporter who can tell impactful stories and enhance our award winning teams enterprise content. Someone with a sense of ser *** who wants to tell stories in a highly ethical journalistic environment and have a great time doing a tough job.

Duties/Responsibilities include but not limited to:

- Reporter will be responsible for live shots, writing and posting multiple stories daily for broadcast as well as all of *** 8's multi *** platforms under tight deadlines.
- Must also be strong at managing breaking news and severe weather coverage, and be able to make sound split-second decisions during live broadcasts.
- Strong skills in posting to the web, working with social *** , and gathering of user generated content are important.
- Knowledge of ENPS preferred.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- 2-3 years of experience as a television reporter in a top 125 market
- BS/BA in Journalism/Communications or equivalent background
- Flexible work hours required, must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts including but not limited to: mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, holidays, weekends and possible overtime hours.
