Job Summary:

Engineers in our Production Technology department are charged with developing and implementing new algorithms to solve unique and challenging problems for all of our animated content. We do this working alongside a user base that shares a collaborative environment with us and uses the code we develop daily.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Production Technology team and elevate and support our animation pipeline focusing on our tools to author surface materials and lights, as well as our final frame rendering pipeline. Critical to this role's success is a passion for enhancing the way users experience content creation software.

In this role, you will partner with artists, technical directors, cross-team software engineers, and product designers. Specific responsibilities include visual design, development, and deployment of graphical user interfaces, tool development within multiple content creation packages, and support of our legacy software tools and libraries. This engineer will contribute to projects throughout their full lifecycle, from concept to launch and refinement, enabling innovative workflows inspired by our long-term vision for our animation pipeline.

Projects Include

• Designing, prototyping, implementing and iterating on user interfaces for material and light authoring
• Implementation of plugins for Maya and our proprietary DCCs for our Look Development artists
• Design & implementation of new Houdini nodes, HDA's, and functionality for our Lighting pipeline within Houdini, including UI design and interaction using Houdini's available APIs
• Support and enhancement for our rendering pipeline that converts our shot and asset data into renderable representations for our proprietary final frame renderer
• Building new APIs to allow for artist-facing and data management tools to more readily create, edit, and access shot content
• Supporting our productions by identifying and solving technical obstacles encountered by our artists

Key Qualifications:

• 3+ years designing and developing complex user facing software, ideally in a studio environment or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in C++, ideally C++11/14
• Experience with scripting languages including Python
• Experience designing and building clean interfaces with Qt or other UI toolkit

Bonus Qualifications:

• Understanding of computer graphics foundational concepts, and algorithms
• Knowledge of animation, graphics techniques and algorithms
• Experience with Autodesk Maya and/or SideFX Houdini
• Masters in Computer Science

Required Education

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.

The hiring range for this position in California is $112,600-$151,000 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

As a Lead Environment Artist you will be expected to lead the Environment art team and work alongside Designers, other Artists, Programmers and Producers on a day-to-day basis, conceptualising and creating a wide range of environmental artwork for our games that achieve the production and quality goals set for the project. You will also work closely with the Art Director in setting the style and quality standard for the games.

You will be expected to estimate timescales for your tasks in advance and deliver milestones as part of the development process. You should be able to show creative leadership to the Environment Art team, inspiring them to work to their potential and take pride in what they produce.

You will be an experienced and passionate individual who takes your career in environment art seriously. You will need to be extremely creative, but also able to apply logic and analytical thought to the medium. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of environment artists in helping create, place, and light environmental assets and terrains under the direction of the Art Director.
  
• Attend reviews of work as required (with any info relevant to task - gameplay/block-out/ref/resources).
  
• Have a strong knowledge of the production pipeline and be able to provide recommendations to improve pipeline efficiency.
  
• Work with art leads to help guide and mentor other artists to improve the knowledge and performance of others.
  
• Enthusiastically develop and improve skillset by keeping aware of industry trends and techniques, evaluating different products, and learning new software packages.
  
• Regularly reviewing employee performance through appraisals and 1-2-1's to ensure performance targets and expected behaviours are delivered.
  
• Assist in the recruitment and probationary reviews of new employees in conjunction with Art Directors and the Head of Art
  
• Undertake relevant on-the-job training where required.
  

Required:

• Highly experienced in creating environment art for video games.
  
• Proficiency in Maya, Photoshop and UE4/5 or equivalent engine
  
• Good demonstration of skills through CV/Showreel/Website or Art Tests
  
• Excellent communication and organisation skills
  
• Practical and methodical approach to both technical and creative problem-solving
  
• Excellent working knowledge of content creation pipeline (modelling, UV, texturing, lighting, and Shaders)
  
• Flexible approach with the ability to adapt with change.

We are looking for a Generalist Artist Supervisor who reflects the innovative spirit, creative talent, production excellence, collaborative mindset and passion for great filmmaking that define ILM.

The Generalist Artist Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of their show team, ensuring that all the work is created according to the approved designs and visual style. They themselves have a high level of skill in creating photo-real environments and landscapes. They will partner with other discipline Supervisors as well as the Visual Effects Supervisor and Production Managers.

What You'll Do

• Create beautiful original work quickly using live action footage, digital still photography, rendered computer graphic elements, and digital paint in a variety of software packages
• Interpret and implement feedback with little-to-no supervisor direction
• Supervise your Generalist team (internally and globally) to deliver the expected and desired work for the show on time
• Review the work of each artist on a regular basis, approving shots and elements for submission to the director; mentor and support Apprentice and Jr. Artists and assist them with their shots
• Work with your sequence Lead to test out tools and techniques before rolling out to artists
• Attend bidding sessions with Production and provide precise and accurate bids
• Collaborate with Talent management to provide performance feedback, recruiting, mentoring and maintaining positive morale

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years of relevant professional VFX experience and a college level diploma in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography; OR at least 7 years of relevant professional VFX experience in lieu of education
• Proven ability in one or more CG techniques, including modeling, texturing, shading, lighting, look development, matte painting, or compositing
• Excellent communication and team-orientated thinking
• Demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new software
• Fluent in some or all of these software packages: Photoshop, 3dsmax, Maya, Houdini, a ray trace renderer and 2d compositing software; comparable software experience considered
• Good working knowledge of specialist tools and plugins like Multiscatter, Speedtree, etc.

Rocksteady is looking for a Lead UI Artist to join our dedicated and collaborative team working on our upcoming title Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

The ideal candidate will possess both experience with, and passion for, creating high quality user interfaces that enable an intuitive, accessible and enjoyable gameplay experience. Working with a team of developers, this role will be highly collaborative and key to our mission to deliver an exceptional experience for all of our players.

This role will be expected to work in a hybrid pattern, with some time in the week spent onsite in our London studio.

Your Role Accountabilities...

• Work with the Art director to establish UI art direction, brand and style guides - maintaining a consistent style throughout the project
  
• Work with Directors and Leads to determine requirements and development of all UI features, communicating status of deliverables proactively
  
• Collaborate and liaise with Artists, Designers, and Programmers in the implementation of UI features - iterating on Design & User feedback to polish and improve features
  
• Manage documentation and flow diagrams for UI/UX features
  
• Delegate and maintain an equitable workload across the UI Art team, communicating with Project Leadership and stakeholders on deliverables
  
• Create opportunities for the UI Artists to expand their skillset and knowledge, understanding their career vectors and developing growth pathways for them
  
• Explore and provide solutions when the UI visual direction co *** icts with the needs of the game design or technical limitations

Qualifications & Experience...

• Able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge and application of UX, Accessibility & player-focused design principles - through work in complex Game projects, ideally with AAA targets
  
• Demonstrable professional graphic design skills - particularly layout, typography, and colour theory application
  
• Excellent knowledge of Figma and Adobe software for 2D Design
  
• Appreciation of current interaction and design trends in Games, particularly across PC & Console titles
  
• Experience with Unreal Engine and node-based visual scripting is highly desirable
  
• Knowledge of Unreal materials/shaders for UI texture optimisation and animation is beneficial

Your New Role...

The Sr. New *** Designer is a vizrt subject matter Expert. The position is responsible for software architecture, integration, operations/engineering support, development in new software (u-touch/magic wall), as well as some of their typical design abilities. This position will work in conjunction with the New *** Producers/Magic Wall team as well as Viz operations support.

Your Role Accountabilities...

• Develop design concepts and see projects through to completion and implementation on multiple platforms. This regularly includes the creation of innovative user interface solutions as well as testing and continued support for the created real-time graphics systems.
  
• Effectively communicate with Department Directors and Producers to coordinate production and distribution of design elements.
  
• Coordinate efforts with personnel in Editorial, Broadcast Operations, and Engineering on the delivery, implementation and quality control of new products and workflows.
  
• Develop unique scripting solutions for the Vizrt design and playout environments as well as the Design Vizrt infrastructure.
  
• Troubleshoot and diagnose application and system-related issues and bugs.
  
• Assist in managing and organizing assets within the Vizrt folder structure. Design and animate scenes in Viz Artist Build templates and variants in Wizard and Template Manager, Trio font codes, style guides for produces
  
• Monitor air, verify pilots and fonts are working properly
  
• Works closely with creative marketing and master control, verifying they have the tools needed to build promo graphics
  
• Troubleshoot any Viz related issues, work closely with EGOs, directors, producers, and design team regarding workflow and new ways we can tell a story using Viz
  

Qualifications & Experience...

• 4+ years of television production or equivalent work history with extensive experience supporting live programming.
  
• Degree from accredited art program with emphasis in graphic design, web design, illustration, 3d animation, visual communications or related field, or equivalent work experience with a demonstrated knowledge of graphic design. Completed coursework in computer science is beneficial.
  
• Ability to work quickly and accurately in a face paced news environment. VizArtist Proficiency: Template Wizard, Director, Viz Trio, Viz Ticker Client, Object Store. Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Suite. Cinema 4D
  
• Strong communications skills: Regular interaction with producers, design team and other coworkers is essential to meet scheduled deadlines. Ability to respond positively to critiques and constructive criticism. Ability to share curiosity and enthusiasm for broadcast design, and the news in general, with work colleagues
  
• Flexible schedule: Ability to work extended hours, including overnight hours and weekends as needed

The Senior Graphics Artist position will design and produce still and animated graphic content for Live News and Feature Programming. Communicate with producers, graphic supervisors, and other design team members to support a range of graphics requests. Expert multi-tasker able to support daily news requests while working on quick turn animations, package development and longer term branding initiatives. Produce high quality design under tight deadlines while maintaining strict accuracy, visual clarity and meets technical standards.

• Create graphics to support Design network programming with a focus on animated content.

Job Summary:

The Lighting Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of Lighting TD's and Leads to create, direct and reflect lighting and shadows that meet the creative direction and vision of the project. This role has shared accountability for the management and deliverables of the Lighting department utilizing research, development, and implementation of new techniques when necessary.



Primary Responsibilities:

• Quality and artistic supervision of lighting with input from VFX Supervisor
• Designs, implements and critiques generic lighting and compositing to help facilitate the creative "look" of the project
• Determines the need and extent of mattes, paintings, effects and shaders for digitally composited shots.
• Driven to regularly interact with the Producer and Director to understand the desired look as it relates to lighting for the production.
• Deliver final shots to production and ensure final technical check is complete.
• Tracking lighting continuity within sequences.
• Participates as a Supervising team member in determining various design solutions; efficiency improvements and provides artistic feedback on a shot and sequence level to other team members of the production.
• Coaches and guides the team of Lighting TD's to execute quality performance for the project.
• Partners with Artist Management to guide artists' overall professional development, providing performance feedback, mentoring, assist with resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale amongst the crew.
• Attend all relevant meetings to promote effective communication throughout the production team.
• Actively participates in the recruiting and staffing of the lighting team - assesses the work of prospective candidates for the hiring process.

Job Summary:

ILM opened its Sydney studio in 2019. The youngest of all of the ILM *** , the Sydney studio leverages the expertise and technological know-how developed over 40 years at *** combined with the top artists and technicians in the region. We are seeking a CG Supervisor to join the team.

Working under the direction of the Producer and the VFX Supervisor, the CG Supervisor ensures all delivered shots maintain the group's rigorous technical standards and assist with the creative vision of the Director by directing the artists' work, technical skills, organization and communication.



Primary Responsibilities:

• Crewed to a show (or multiple smaller shows when needed) and owns all decisions related to that show's technical development and implementation requirements including workflow, tool and pipeline decisions.
• Serves as final decision-maker on all technical issues that span multiple artist disciplines (for example, makes the call on the most appropriate workflow *** ween different disciplines when consensus cannot be reached).
• Owns show approach plan and partners with key supervisors across all ILM global locations for specifics on show planning, delivery, etc.
• Responsible for ensuring technical implementation will work across all ILM locations, taking into account issues like licenses, machine specs, file sharing and other issues that may differ *** ween locations.
• Responsible for show-specific forecasting of license, machine, render and storage needs throughout the show schedule.
• Partners with appropriate studio reps across ILM global locations to provide show projections for larger, studio-wide assessments and reports.
• Directly oversees new, facility approved, show-specific workflow and technology innovations. May perform or delegate the 'product owner' role for new technology on the show, however remains ultimately accountable for the success of those efforts.
• Ensures show approach decisions are consistent with the facility canonical pipeline goals and that new technology developed on the show meets the show's needs. Ensures those efforts are visible to R&D, P.E., IT and the CG Technology Supervisors.
• Partners with CG Technology Supervisors and R&D, PE and IT supervisors on canonical issues and priorities related to show needs.
• Communicates proactively and consistently across show and studio about show technical priorities, requirements and concerns, in particular to show producer and VFX supervisor, CG technology supervisor leadership team and within weekly CG Supervisor meeting.
• Flags and communicates the need for any show decisions which create divergence in canonical asset management tools and workflow (i.e. any changes to core, facility naming conventions, shotfile structure, choice of software, etc...)
• Collaborates with outsource vendors and other ILM production partners on all shot and data sharing issues including file formats and standardization, colour space issues, etc. related to show
