Deliverables Manager

As the Director of Finishing, I think of the responsibilities of this role in two parts of a whole: Client-Facing & In-House. Client-Facing** Our work in entertainment marketing aims to provide our clients with a service. As the Director of the Finishing team, it's my responsibility to ensure the delivery of that material. My goal is to deliver a correct set of deliverables promptly but efficiently. To achieve this, my responsibilities are: * Clear and open communication with clients on delivery specifications, timeline expectations and flagging any potential pitfalls in the process. I would also notify our client if a deadline may not be achievable due to "physical" limitations of bandwidth and computer/processing ability. * Identifying priority levels between deliverables within a single client's request and among additional clients we work with on separate projects. * If a 3rd party is creating the final deliverables and we will be facilitating a project turnover, communicating with said 3rd party; keeping them up-to-date on the status; and, upon project delivery, providing all information they may need for successful finishing, including needed assets and flagging any issues that might exist. * Immediately flagging to the client if a deadline is in jeopardy of being met while ensuring we are taking all steps to prevent the said event. I also try to be as transparent as possible in communicating to *why* the deadline is not being met. Generally speaking, the most essential part of my role is open and honest communication with our clients. Building that trust helps maintain a strong relationship between Ignition and the people we are working with. **In-House** The second part of my role may be the more impactful of the two, as it ensures that we continue to move forward on the various projects we are working on at a given time: Managing our in-person team and in-person needs to get the job done. * Managing our team of Finishing Assistant Editors, Finishing Supervisors and our Colorist in regard to task priority, timeline and general schedule. * Final QC of all assets in the delivery package to ensure we provide a product correctly the first time, avoiding delay-inducing redelivery from a failed client-side QC. * Coordinate with the VP of Post-Production to ensure any technical issues are being dealt with, researching and requesting new software to improve workflow and communicate any personnel issues that may be occurring. * Open communication with my team on current and upcoming projects, so everyone prepares for the stresses a day may contain * Conducting annual and quarterly reviews with the team to build each member's skill set and provide feedback to develop employees within the company for upwards projection roles. * Communicating with and facilitating training for our Assets and Assistant Editor team to build a strong talent pool behind our current Finishing team. * Some paperwork, including submitting invoices and expense reports and working with producers on budgeting for Finishing when needed.

Post Production Manager

Positive Image Video is a company that creates long-form documentary programming for various clients, mainly revolving around sports of all kinds, from MMA to MLG. I was initially hired as a Post Production Assistant and moved up to Assistant Editor within two months, despite having yet to experience in that role. Being asked to take on new responsibilities out of necessity and quickly learning on the job was generally indicative of my time at PIV. Average Daily Responsibilities**: Daily, weekly and monthly preventative maintenance of Avid ISIS. Troubleshooting technical issues with ISIS, Editor and Assistant Editor computers. Research new technologies that would benefit the company and continued attentiveness to upgrades available for current hardware (and being aware of if an upgrade could introduce instability). Supervised the Assistant Editor team, acting as Lead Assistant Editor and taking on Assistant Editor tasks when bandwidth was tight. Online Editor tasks, including color correction, creation of final deliverables, final QC of assets, and delivery to client upload system. Maintaining and updating the company's archival LTO and tape library, including knowledge of its contents to aid editors in pulling b-roll. Some client communication and some personnel management tasks. Travel Series Responsibilities**: At PIV, we also worked on a series for the UFC called "Embedded." "Embedded" is a monthly YouTube Vlog series that follows PPV headline/co-headline fighters preparing for fight night. The series aired daily during fight week and was composed of footage filmed the day before or even the day of, on occasion. To maintain consistency, I would set up our edit systems as though we would be on-location, even if we were staying in Los Angeles; often, we would travel to where the PPV event would occur and there instead. If traveling, coordinate with the administration team on edit setup's safe shipment to the location. Management of edit set up at the hotel upon arrival. Set up of stations and SAN. Daily maintenance and troubleshooting of machines. Ingest and backup of edit material. Color correction of final edits. Compiling of video and quickly editing audio before exporting final deliverables. Upload to YouTube for UFC's digital team to make public once the episode passes QC. Strike and clean up after the completion of that month's episodes.
