As Artist/Costume Designer created personifications of nine literary women in the life of Aaron Burr as a social circle. I was Producer of the film now available as a download on VHX. I researched, conceptualized and executed each of the personified portraits.

The costumes were colorless so that they transformed in color onstage from Michael O'Connor's lighting and set to music by Nick Brooke and Ian Chen. The costumes incorporated pieces of repurposed clothing that were distressed and patch-worked together with tech dying. Costume were co-designed with Sylvia Grieser.

Set as events transpiring on a single day, the challenge was to give each character distinct and instant character reads through costume. Although events transpired in a single day the characters intersect only in passing, linked by geographic proximity. The intersecting lives unfold against a backdrop of a suicide bombing revealed through documentary footage. Most character had only one change.

This was a film set in the 1920's south on a Mississippi plantation. The costumes were vintage purchases and some rentals. The costumes required constant hand laundering despite their fragility because of filming in August on a Mississippi cotton plantation. Extreme aging and distressing required.
