Claire Chubbuck

In addition to being a filmmaker, I am a teacher. As part of Chubbuck Studio’s first online course, a necessity brought on by the realities of a pandemic, I asked my students to create. The first assignment was performing a monologue of their own creation that expresses an experience of the shutdown of life - due to the coronavirus. The primary purpose was to be worked on in class, but master teacher, and my mother, Ivana Chubbuck, encouraged students to film it - and do something with it. The monologues are created by the students from around the world, and I used the magic of editing with sound, motion to create a story that shows a portrait of culture in this moment.

My best friend let me tell the story of her real life trauma - and we made ‘this is how I lost my virginity’ as a living testament that one does not have to be destroyed by tragedy. Using my best friend's real-life experience of losing her virginity, I co-wrote, directed, and edited this award winning short film to help my best friend find catharsis from this traumatic event. The film explores systematic sexual misperceptions in this award-winning short film - ultimately concluding there is work to do on all sides of the gender perigon.

Oversee all creative aspects of production from development through post-production; including show ideas, treatments, script development, creative elements, casting, writing staff and overall production supervision. Shop the creative marketplace for programming concepts or other creative properties that have original scripted programming potential.

Responsible for strategy and development of acquisitions, licensed and co-productions (animated, reality, live action, series and films), the strategic short and long-term catalogs, and the programming plan. Organize and evaluate pitches and submissions, provide feedback, and create network information for new properties.
