Level Up Assistant Editors provide an essential production contribution to the overall workflow of the company and the character of the team. Positive attitude and communication is critically important even when long hours present themselves. Weekend work will happen, and it will be important to be available when needed. We can discuss an on call calendar so weekend planning can take place for personal life. Vacation time will need to be coordinated so are not short staffed during employee vacation times. Assistant Editors will need to perform various finishing editorial duties when called upon. I/O – Alerts It is the responsibility of the AE team to Download and push 1. Master source materials will be transferred to Facilis for online access a. Features, Pix and sound b. Dailies and VFX shots 2. Preps a. Picture and Sound preps i. Will download to Corral, Upon download the correct teams, Producer, Edit, Sound will be alerted via slack and email. ii. GFX – will download to Corral and correct teams notified 3. Occasional tape capture 4. Any LTO I/O outside of the in-house archival duties Mastering – Editors will master and QC Production Masters for all projects. Once a project is approved and the Production Masters/Mezzanine files are created and QCd by Editor and Producer it will be the responsibility of the AE team to Master all additional materials QC- One of the most important functions of the production workflow, while all steps are essential, QC is our safeguard against any material leaving the facility incorrectly. 1. Always two sets of eyes and ears a. Files must always be split against the final approved approval file and or the final QCd Production master. b. Audio must be confirmed to have the correct track configuration and levels for type of deliverable. c. Formatting must be correct to spec, for client and type of deliverable. Delivery – Know who you are delivering to, what client, and what delivery mechanism is being used. 1. Stampede methods a. Aspera, Wiredrive 2. Client methods a. Box b. Frame io c. Aspera drop box 3. Know who should be alerted via transmit email, and or additional email for Clients and producers and team. Facilis- 1. Facilis Terra Block management and storage utilization reporting 2. Working with tech support to resolve issues when necessary (this goes for other tech support requests as needed) Archive/Backup- 1. Project and media backup and archival 2.
