Traditional Hot Rod builder and Automotive Events Coordinator

Staff Position — Oilers Car Club - The Race of Gentlemen Details
1/13 – 1/14

Member of the Oilers Car Club, founded in 1947 in Carlsbad California. Emphasis on traditional hot rodding, with a focus on racing. Founders of The Race of Gentlemen, a post war automobile and motorcycle beach race taking place in Wildwood, NJ. A Brief History... It all started one night in November 1947 when 8 young men from Carlsbad, CA came together over coffee at the APEX cafe and transformed their dreams of forming a roadster and custom car club into a reality. That evening the Oilers were born, and their first president, Jim Nelson lead the charge, bringing the Oilers members and the Southern California Timing Association (SCTA) together. Fast forward to 2008, when a group of young traditional hot rod enthusiasts found a copy of Robert Genat’s book, "The Birth of Hot Rodding, The Story of the Dry Lakes Era," Rich with stories and color Kodachrome photographs taken by WWII photographer and founding Oilers member Don Cox, a new infatuation of automotive history and car club culture was rekindled. Tired of boring jacket clubs and parking lot car shows, this new generation of men set out to create a car club/motorcycle club with meaning. After reaching out to Robert Genat, the soon-to-be Oilers were put in touch with the one and only Oilers founder, Jim Nelson. An instant bond was formed and Nelson, with no hesitation, passed the torch on, opening a new chapter in the Oilers history. A new brotherhood was formed between 10 hand picked members spanning from coast to coast with a promise to carry on the legacy that began that early November 1947 night. Their collection of automobiles is impressive, to say the least, and their determination to bring back racing as it once was is unwavering. The Oilers have always shared a common ground; to build machines for speed, endurance and beauty, keeping a time honored sport of competition alive! Living up to the promise made to Jim Nelson, the Oilers legacy has continued with true authenticity and pride.

Television Producer and Training Coordinator producing educational healthcare-centric live satellite broadcasts, online streaming interactive productions and internal and external communication initiatives to more than 1,350 not-for-profit hospitals and 24,000+ non-acute care facilities in 47 states and the District of Columbia. My role specifically involved the management of live accredited educational content and workshops primarily focused on improving and streamlining large hospital supply chain networks across the country. Contract negotiation, building better leaders and process improvement and waste reduction skills such as LEAN and Six Sigma are just a few areas of focus. I managed cross functional teams to develop training courses to improve the delivery of healthcare across all disciplines. Educating and coaching internal and external senior leaders in an engaging manor to invoke process change and improvement in the healthcare field was my top priority. This involved traveling to healthcare organizations, filming procedures, conducting interviews with the medical staff and the leaders of the organization, from the CEO to the facilities staff. I assisted the marketing department with brand roll outs and trade show presentations, and often served as presentation coach for speakers within our company as well as those who are guests on our programs.
