Jeffrey Mercado

I am a freelance videographer for the Spanish affiliate of the Los Angeles Times. I also serve to manage technical issues with staff reporters and edit footage shot by staff.

Associate producer for Univision's action/adventure project, Alma Extrema. I re-aggregated and edited Red Bull footage for a Spanish-language audience as well as filmed and edited my own projects.

• Managed all departmental production equipment and work spaces • Assisted in development and support of the university’s television and photo studio, including computer set-up, stage paint work, light placement, and prop arrangement

• Generated videos and broadcasts covering track and field events, including the 2014 World Junior Championships • Photographed and press covered all major track and field events in Eugene, OR

• Associate Collegiate Press Pacemaker Award winning premiere campus student-run magazine • Published three major 2014 published stories • Published The Road North, a personal essay on my family’s immigration experience

Facilitated production assignments for nationally televised events, including completing utility work, running statistics to the production truck, and setting up cameras

• Managed a twenty-person reporter staff and produced weekly newscast that was locally televised • Created the first bilingual English and Spanish newscast episode • Introdued a weather and sports segment, while working with reporters to produce ambitious stories

• Media Internship Program funded by the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication • Produced the most stories than any other intern, including an extended feature story that aired on Ghanaian national television
