Locking up traffic on location, assisting with directing & managing background performers, and running paperwork, walkie batts, and food for crew & first team -- and having a great time doing all of it!
Summary
Previous professional child actor, career cut short by a beard at age 14 -- but I soon found a camera in my hands and haven't looked back. I'm pursuing a career as a DP & Cam Op, and am interested in AC, PA, & G&E opportunities as I work my way up.
Credits
4/16 – 5/16
Production Assistant (Addt'l Location PA) – Chicago PD (Season 3)
NBC — TV — Wolf Films Inc Details
4/16 – 5/16
4/16 – 4/16
Production Assistant (Chicago Unit) – Office Christmas Party
Film (Feature-length) — DreamWorks SKG Details
4/16 – 4/16
Locking up busy riverside sidewalk, coordinating traffic control with CPD, and keeping a cheery & professional presence for the curious passers-by.
12/15 – 12/15
Lighting Technician – Cold War
Film (Feature-length) — Spaceship Town Productions Details
12/15 – 12/15
Assisted the Gaffer with rigging, powering, and tweaking a mix of Jokers, Kinos, fresnels, and practical lights -- and then using standard grip equipment to shape resulting light. Only worked on the few days where an extra hand was needed, but I had a blast. As a day-player, feeling at home on a tight-knit set like this was lovely.
9/15 – 9/15
Camera Operator – The Year That Changed Us
Film (Feature-length) — AOK Productions Details
9/15 – 9/15
Day-played as B-Camera, picking off reverse shots and inserts under the guidance of DP Drew Xanthopoulos. Very organic style, shooting handheld in a party scene, a back-porch dialogue, and an intense argument in a stairwell (during which I learned that if the angle calls for it, I can indeed french-press a C100 for several takes without extreme shake). Great fun! 10/10, would crew again.
9/15 – 9/15
DIT (Digital Imaging Technician) – Holly Ridge
Film (Short) — 137 Films / PBS Details
9/15 – 9/15
Managed file offload and backup from RED One, provided and tweaked dailies grades on location, and assisted director and DP with playback, exposure, and day-for-night tests. Also helped camera and electric with equipment rigging and transportation. And to top it all off, we made an adventure of it as we shot & lived in the film's cabin location in the Michigan woods. 10/10, would crew a sequel.
7/15 – 8/15
First Assistant Camera (and Additional Photography) – Trust (and Other Lies We Tell Ourselves to Sleep at Night)
Film (Feature-length) — Halcyon Details
7/15 – 8/15
Designing & building camera rigs for situations up to and including partially-underwater jib moves (a point of both pride and amusement). Pulling focus on night exteriors at a 1.4, often over the DP's shoulder as he operated with a Ronin. (Also earned an Additional Photography credit for work photographing time-lapses and filming second-unit footage.)
4/15 – 4/15
First Assistant Camera – Poker Night
Film (Short) — Studio 22 Productions Details
4/15 – 4/15
Pull focus, mostly while riding on the dolly with the DP -- sometimes while we're both standing, and it's being pushed at running speed down the length of a street. (At night.) All good fun though! Many lovely 2nd ACs, dolly grips, and DITs that came out to help -- several crew-members had conflicts and so our team changed often, but I enjoyed that as a learning experience.
