Videographer (My Cover Letter) The Greatest Ever (Season 99)

Lifetime — TV Details
1/16 – 1/17

Dear Hiring Professional, I am not just another applicant for your position who fulfills your requirements and is excited for the opportunity. I exceed not only your current requirements but also any other expectation you may have of me because I interact with the world uniquely, vividly, and fully. I give my all to what I do, fueled by relentless optimism and great care for those around me. I will bring a whole new force to your company that no one else can and that nothing can slow down. I will always remember the first time I watched my own film screened in a movie theater to an audience. It was then that I finally realized what I wanted to do: to tell great stories to others through media, and especially video. I think it is the ultimate way to reach people. That is why I chose the rigorous academic focus on media production with a minor in photography that allowed me to develop my style and produce effective media at a professional level. In order to test my skills, I was ecstatic to land a position to make marketing videos for DormCo.com. The challenge was to design entertaining videos highlighting product features that met DormCo’s standards. There was a strict weekly deadline with no budget or provided ideas. I completed the entire production for 30 videos while learning the value of pre-production skills, creative use of limited resources, and how to balance vision and reality since I was paid for each approved video rather than my hours. The owner subsequently invited me to produce more marketing videos as well as a Kickstarter campaign video for a product he invented. Last fall, I was awarded third place in a video contest hosted by legendary talent manager and film agent, Shep Gordon. It felt amazing to be recognized by someone who had experienced so much talent. One of my most recently completed works, Forts, was selected and screened in February at the Just Gather Film Festival 2015 in Edinburgh. In the spring, I graduated with a B.A. in Media Study with Highest Distinction and was awarded the Pierre McAloon Memorial Award for excellence in creative work in film. I obsess over my work and let it possess me in the pursuit of perfection. I am able to execute every single task of a full production through the thorough use of my extensive education and dedication. Therefore, my portfolio shows my own solo work from inception to completion. While I can work independently, I would still hope to be working with people because I love spending time with others, collaborating, and being part of a family. I am also hoping for a job where I can have lots of new experiences like possibly traveling or working out in the field with a crew where one needs to creatively adapt in real time. I am enthralled by the power of storytelling and the magic of sharing experiences through media. The feeling of putting a piece together as every element lines up from audio mixing to timing to framing to the moment when it hypnotizes you and you know it is right, is pure electricity. I am a motivated self-starter and driven to succeed in any task. I am proficient in social media and website design. My computer skills are parts academic and self taught such as profitable affiliate marketing websites that I developed all while recovering from having my wisdom teeth removed. I strive to stretch my skills and be a better version of myself everyday. I am eager to join a team that collaboratively and creatively produces at such an acknowledged level. I am confident that I will heighten the success of your company. Please contact me anytime, for I look forward to further talking with you. Thank you for reviewing my application. All the Best, M. Videographer (Created this film completely on my own) A Taste

Film (Short) — Reckoning Films Details
1/15 – 5/15

Conducted in-depth research on near-death experiences then developed script, shot list, and shooting schedule. Found locations, created sets, and conducted interviews. Filmed with several DSLRs and dealt with mainly low light situations (although I love those scenes). Also choreographed and filmed first dance segment. Edited film and created mash up tracks, rearranging and editing music. Added VFX, filters, transistions, and created title. Learned even more in this project, became obsessed with it and really aimed to perfect my skills. Overall extremely proud.

Still Photographer (Created and sold 20 photo series that served as a still frame narrative film) Rebirth

Film (Short) — Reckoning Films Details
11/14 – 4/15

Researched existential philoshophy and spiritual beliefs to develop a still shot narrative story portrayed in a photo series. I followed essentially the same process as video production, creating a shot list and shooting schedule. Then going on location and shooting with Canon T6i then finally selecting, editing in Lightroom, and making prints of each. I really explored cinematography, framing, and lighting in this project and witnessed the power of prints. See it here in video form (although they are more successful as prints): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMJzUkcC0TA&index=26&list=PLu_wMyV5UqTCr0Wpu2DzosZk2BzyNn-Hg

9/14 – 2/15

Videographer (Created this film completely on my own) Forts

Film (Short) — Reckoning Films Details
9/14 – 2/15

I developed the script, shot list, and shooting schedule then scouted locations and prepared everything for production. Then shot on location while acting in with various Go Pros and DSLRs in parallel with separate sound recording using a Tascam and wireless lavs plus shotguns. Finished filming and edited video, arranging audio and VFX. I learned a ton during this project and endured some crazy snow and bitter cold but was a complete success.
