Summary

Hi, I'm Rachel and I'm an editor based in NY. I work quickly, I have experience on a variety of project types that differ in scale, tone and medium.

Credits

3/20 – 10/20

Editor (Avid) The Zoo San Diego (Season 2)

Animal Planet — TV — Left/Right Details
3/20 – 10/20

This season, I was the editor for episode 10, a repack episode featuring the zoo’s cutest babies. I also edited over a dozen stories for other episodes; the tone for these stories ranges from funny moments with the animals to the drama of caring for animals who need special attention or medical procedures. Addressed notes from producers, Animal Planet and the San Diego Zoo.

7/18 – 10/20

Lead Assistant Editor

Staff Position — Left/Right Inc. Details
7/18 – 10/20

While working for Left/Right, I was primarily the lead AE for The Zoo, seasons 3 and 4. I also helped with related shows, The Zoo San Diego and The Aquarium. As an AE I was responsible for syncing and grouping, organizing the project, and upresing. I edited many of the snap ins for this series, as well as some of the digital content for season 3 of The Zoo, and The Aquarium season 1 and 2. I also edited a few one scene stories. Some of the snap ins and digital content I cut got moved into episodes.

6/16 – 4/20

Editor (Avid)

Staff Position — Dragon Productions Details
6/16 – 4/20

Philly local production company's editor. It's a fast-paced, busy work environment, so being a post production jack of all trades is key. I need to know what to do from start to finish -- handling different media types, syncing, setting up and editing multi-cam interviews, laying down b-roll, creating after effects titles, making sure the client is happy with the locked cut, prep for finishing, and final delivery. All this with tight deadlines. After a year as an in-house editor, I now work remotely as a freelance editor based in NY.

11/19 – 2/20

Editor (Avid) The Zoo (Season 4)

Animal Planet — TV — Left/Right Inc. Details
11/19 – 2/20

I was promoted to editor during this season, after being the Lead AE for most of season 3 and 4. I edited episode 15, a repack episode about innovation at the Bronx Zoo. All stories had to tie in strongly with the theme, and it was an enjoyable challenge to bring stories that were originally focused on different thematic elements and bring them all together to retell the stories in a new light.

10/17 – 6/18

Lead Assistant Editor (Avid) Your Husband Is Cheating On Us (Season 1)

Bravo — TV — Hot Snakes Media Details
10/17 – 6/18

I took over this position towards the end of production, and have seen this upcoming Bravo series through all stages of the post process. From ingesting, transcoding, synching, and grouping this multi-camera show, to upresing and delivering finished episodes. I keep the project extremely well organized, and all projects are intuitive and easy to navigate. My days are often spent assisting the story producers and editors with cutdowns, stringouts, and scene edits, and I am currently working on bonus digital content for the show, in tandem with my regular responsibilities as an assistant editor. As the lead, and currently only, assistant editor, I wear many hats on this production.

8/17 – 10/17

Assistant Editor (Avid) Extinct or Alive (Season 1)

Animal Planet — TV — Hot Snakes Media Details
8/17 – 10/17

For this exciting docu-series - a quest to find animals that haven't been seen for decades or more - I spent several months helping the lead assistant editor bring in footage from around the globe. Ingesting footage from different types of cameras; stacking, synching, and grouping where well over 4 cameras were rolling at once; handling media organization for editors both in-house and out of state. Although I was pulled onto another project, I consider this to have been an invaluable experience.

3/17 – 10/17

Story Editor (Avid) Behind the Bay Doors

Film (Feature-length) — Behind the Bay Doors Details
3/17 – 10/17

For this fly-on-the-wall doc about firefighters, I'm the on-call story editor. I spent a month in March combing through over 60 days of footage, looking for the right angle. In and out of meetings with the director and the rest of the post team from then on, I've crafted a paper edit -- an outline -- for them to follow. Now I'm called back when important new footage needs to be written in (technically, they're done production, but doc directors never want to stop!) or when they need me to review a cut to make sure the story hasn't derailed.

3/14 – 6/17

Assistant Editor (Avid)

Staff Position — The Drexel InterView Details
3/14 – 6/17

On an as needed basis, I worked for this university affiliated, PBS talk show while pursuing my college degree. I was responsible for editing various promotional and educational materials, even doing some video production when necessary and acting as production assistant during the filming of episodes. The videos I edited ranged from sizzle reels to informative pieces designed to connect to students. It was a small production, so I did everything necessary to get projects from start to finish.
